They are strong impacts and CP makes good tools. You might save on a new one off ebay. I see them for under 150 bucks to the USA

Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Chicago Pneumatic CP-7748 1/2" air impact gun. I'm looking at buying it. It has 922ft-lbs of reverse torque and it's only about $219 Canadian. Good buy or not?

Read the Amazon reviews. One of the posters here has a very good write-up there (amazon name of Thunder, I think).

There's also a recent-ish thread here where a guy said he used one at work for a couple of years before going to an IR 2235; the IR didn't blow him away.

Also, I have one and have no complaints.

That is the only gun I have used for the last 21 years, right now I am on my third one. So I guess I average seven years out of one. Its used daily, on mostly 4wd pickups. Never have had a reason to buy a bigger, more powerful, or louder gun.

Great gun. Has held up to regular abuse in a shop environment for two years and still going strong.

Do you think I can run this gun off my 10 gallon compressor not to often just to rotate my tires ect?

If the ten gallon compressor comes on at 80 psi and turns off at 100 psi,, it is not going to be the "choice" combination... Not saying it hasn't been done; but it will most likely be rather non-impressive..

Unless You plan on a compressor upgrade; I would look into an electric or cordless impact wrench..

Newsflash:

Sounds like You just bought a new SpeedAire compressor..... I have owned CP air tools for over ..43 years.. They get my vote, along with IR and SnapOn

It's nice seeing a company not bashing another! You guys are great btw I've been impressed by many of y'alls lineup for years. For the original question I have an old CP 746/747? (Can't remember off the top of my head) that has been a reliable unit over the years. Has busted loose nuts and bolts I never really thought it would. I've threatened to replace it before with IR but the stupid thing keeps plugging away.
