Cp air hammer advice

First off I've owned a cp715 gun for the last five years and have been happy with it exept for the barrel is always coming loose. I'll be beating away on something then the gun will start losing power and I'll have to tighten the barrel up. I've taken the barrel off and put locktite on it and tightened it back down with a large channel locks and it still came loose. Anyone else have this happen?

Second. I recently picked up a 3/4 in impact gun for those really stubborn bolts my 1/2 impact won't take off which is very rare as I work on lighter duty vehicles. I'm looking to do the same thing with my air hammer. I want one that would be considered "overkill" just in case my 715 can't make something budge.

So my question is should I buy a 714? Or step it up to the bigger bore717? I want to make sure when i pull out the bigger air hammer its noticably more powerful. But ive never even seen a 717 in person so I don't really know if it would be way overkill for passenger car/trucks? I will be buying used off eBay or craigslist.

The Cp717 is the real deal and makes everything else just a noise maker.

The 717 is in a league of it's own. It uses larger shank diameter bits.. As far as 'noise makers' go, you can get a swan-neck style rivet buster that will out hit the 717 for half as much.. The 3050 has been the best I've ever used/seen but I haven't had the pleasure of playing with a 717. I have run an 9" stroke IR rivetbuster before, though.

If you want OVERKILL.. get a used but rebuilt IR 9001. 1 1/8" bore 9" stroke.. only uses 40 cfm! I doubt you'd have a need for THAT much overkill.
