Crack Filling

I'm going to put down H&C Silicone Acrylic Concrete Sealer. I just finished grinding with an Edco grinder, and I'm ready to acid etch. The grinder seems to have cleaned the floor to the point where minor cracks really show.

So I've decided to apply crack filler. Should I crack fill or etch first? Also, what is everyone using for crack filler? I see that the caulk type filler is good for latex paints - so that is out. I need something for solvent based.

Acid etch first. Acid may adversely affect the filler that you use.

How big are the cracks that you have? I used the Rust Oleum two part filler before doing my epoxy floor with good results. Takes about 8 hours to fully set up and excess material can be sanded off with a random orbital sander.

Call tech services listed on the can to see what they recommend as a filler.

I too have ground the floor prior to epoxy coating and noticed many small hairline cracks. I thought the epoxy would seal them. Am I wrong?

How big are the cracks that you have?

about 1/8" wide. I'll look into the Rustoleum filler + I'm going to give Sherwin Williams a call too since they carry the H&C sealer I'm using.

Marty - epoxy will fill small cracks. worked fine in my last garage. In this garage, the cracks are a little bigger and I don't think the sealer I'm using will fill the voids the way epoxy does.
