Does anyone know the easy way to open up the cracks in my garage floor in order to fill properly?

In one post it says to cut them out, not sure what they mean, diamond blade, or grinding disc or chisel.

Also how wide should the top be when I'm done?

Any info is much appreciated

A wet diamond blade works best. Their are dry diamond blades but dust can be a problem. You can use a masonry abrasive blade , but again dust is an issue. The blade will be in the order of 1/8", wider ones are available.

Get a cheapo HF 4 1/2" grinder and use that. When the dust trashes the armature, you won't be out very much. You could dampen th efloor down a little beforehand but water and electricity do not mix very well so you would have to be careful. I think it may have been on HGTV that they showed using a 4 1/2" grinder to cut a cross hatch pattern into a slab then acid stained it afterwards. Looked really good.
