I had a conversation with my builder and he said that one of his other homes brick came detached from the concrete on his porch, and that got me thinking about fixing some issues around the house.
Been in the house since late 2011, and have several repair jobs I'd like to tackle.
1. The brick on the front porch is bonded to cement, and I pressure wash that crevice every year. I wonder if some owner had a power washer cut through that bond over the years, and I'm wondering if I need to backfill that crevice. I've been thinking of power washing the crud out, letting it dry, and using Quikrete concrete repair, the acrylic stuff you can apply using a caulk gun.
2. The rear basement cinder block wall has a crack that's grown noticeably over the last two years. It's gotten significantly larger this past winter season. Planning to clean up the crack debris, use the same Quikrete concrete repair after I chisel it out. The crack extends up at most a couple inches under the vinyl siding, since it has a stud wall right on top.
3. The basement has a long crack that's getting longer that's appeared to follow the traffic pattern of taking the dog out into the back yard. The crack is about 10-12 feet long and getting wider slowly. I think I can use some kind of concrete epoxy to handle it. I do plan on finishing the basement in the near future.
4. The driveway has a crack in a piece that neighbors were always parking on my curb. I want to try to keep this piece together, not sure what the best approach is. May need to fill it with sand before attempting to seal that piece.
5. I have another crack in my garage slab, but while it's not large, it does appear to be widening. I don't have plans to finish garage floor, but want to probably use the concrete epoxy stuff.
Looking for some wisdom, or you could say a couple of "wisecracks" from the experts.
