We added on another 2 car garage to the existing and would like to do something with the floor. The exising garage slab has cracks and after the new one was made it does as well ( very expansive soil). If I get an epoxy floor done will it fill in the cracks and keep it from cracking more? I have read that they die grind the cracks, kinda like v them out and fill with something befor the epoxy goes down. I just don't want cracks to come back.

This is a great site, I will get some pics up of the expansion project.

Hoiw big are the cracks? Small spider craks simply need a little filler compound and then paint.

Bigger stuff will need more attention.

Cannot say from self experience if the cracks will come back, but I have used and would highly recommend this stuff:

No need to chisel out the crack to make a V, just wire brush to break up any lose material, dust, dirt, vacuum, and fill with compound. I cures up in 8 hours. For larger cracks, use it in multiple players until the crack is filled up. Sand to make any small impressions disappear. Works well on small cracks. My floor had a combination of both small and large cracks. After applying 2 coats of epoxy over the epoxy patch, you can't see any remnants of the cracks or patch compounds. Time will tell if the cracks will break through.
