I bought my first set of Craftsman boxes back in the late 80's. They are still serving me well. I have added 2 more sets in the last two years. They are not as solid as my original set but I still expect they will last my lifetime and beyond. I am happy with all of them.

Always look for the box that serves your needs with a little room to grow. Don't spend more than you need to just for a nameplate If you need a larger or more durable box in the future then make a change. For most people a Craftsman or Harbor Freight set will serve them for a lifetime with minimal care.

well it looks like I already outgrew this one, but it's all I could afford to buy for now, I was thinking if I need more room later on I can always buy another one just like it and put them side by side

Works good, just dont overload the drawers, will last you a long time...

:+1: Best advice for any box, especially the cheaper boxes, particularly friction slides.

OP, no offense but I'm not sure if I would call those heavy duty boxes. They look very similar to some special or limited edition boxes that craftsman was clearancing out a while back. I fondled them in they store and as mudflap said above. If treated properly they will last you a long time. I had a craftsman project center thing for years. It looked and worked the same new as the day I sold it. I didn't over load the drawers or beat the **** out of it though.

none taken, the "heavy duty" claim is craftsman's, not mine, the drawers are supposed to hold up to 75 lbs, so I'm only worried about the bottom drawer because I put all my jumbo wrenches in it but I have nowhere else to put them, so I guess we'll see how it holds up over time. Oh and the slides are actually ball bearing, not friction, they actually feel pretty smooth. I got the bottom cab for $208, and they didn't have the top chest in stock but I guess someone returned one while I was at the store and I ended up getting that one for $60 because it was a return and was out of the box, the regular price on it was around $160 so I saved around $100 just by showing up at the right time.

I have several crafty boxes. Other than their "basic" line, all have served me well. I'm in and out of the drawers several days/nights of the week and have no complaints.

I actually bought the flat back limited edition box they came out with last year. It was ridiculed by many on this board, which motivated me to buy it, however it works just fine as well.

You can get those with regular slides, Quiet Slides or Ball Bearing Slides. The BB slides are great. I choose the Quiet Slides as a good compromise. They have served me well for about 10 years. I only wish the bottom 2 drawers were each 1" deeper. I guess I need a middle box.

Yea,I looked at the basic line and they didn't convince me at all, but these looked a lot better, and I would have got the flat black one too if out was available
