I've been unsuccessfully looking for a used lathe for the shop going on nearly a decade here in Eastern Canada. There doesn't seem to be much available, and when something pops up it usually goes pretty fast. I noticed this 13x24 Craftex CX709X on clearance for 3299. There is a note on the site saying they got a shipment of lathes that have an issue with the highest speed 1650rpm, but everything else works fine. There is no warranty either. Has anyone bought one of these, or any ideas if this factory issue might be repairable? What would cause a lathe to not work properly in high gear? Any thoughts on that?
