I've been watching this set and was planning on getting it this week but it not on the sears site anymore. I looked on the web and it showing not available everywhere I look. I hope they didn't discontinue it because it was a great deal for $125.

I honestly think the kobalt 227 piece set is a better deal, ($99) even though the case isn't much to talk about, it still has pretty good ratchet's

I agree with bigarmzz I prefer my craftsman usa stuff to the Taiwan kobalt but the kobalt ratchets are better and I think the kobalt Is much nicer fit and finish then the Chinese craftsman

Yeah the sockets are laser etched and not stamped, that is probably the biggest con, I also don't like that the deep sockets are 12 point, and the small assortment of wrenches. But otherwise I think it's a damn good set for the price, Its done everything i need as a grab and go set

I don't know if this helps you any or not, but I've got my eye on this DeWalt set, which I believe is made in Taiwan. There doesn't appear to be much filler in it.

Have the kobalt. Works great for me. Better ratchets than the cman set. The case is ****. The dewalt set jobo1004 posted looks like a winner though.

I agree, not a huge fan of the craftsman ratchets, the kobalt's are fine tooth and very well fit ergonomically. For $100 I couldn't pass it up, keep it in the truck tool box now and it is overly complete for that. I disagree about the box though, as I like it more than craftman.

I really like the looks of that 192 piece dewalt kit.
It looks like most all the sockets are 6 point too, so that's a plus, and not a lot of filler pieces like 40 little allen wrenches.only bad thing is, for $150, I wonder if when you open it up, the sockets will fly out?..

If I'm not mistaken, all of the sockets are 6 point. If you believe the Amazon reviews, it sounds like the case is pretty good at keeping sockets in place so long as you don't throw it around too much.

Sounds like he's looking for sockets only and it's one of the few large socket only sets in the Cman/Husky/Kolbat class. It's the 2nd biggest Cman set next to the 299 piece, its really a great value in the class. Just ordered it two weeks ago for my dad for Christmas, its not sold in store, but can be delivered to store. Looks like they totally sold out now though.

I would look at Husky from Home Depot too. I believe I have the 205pc set that lives in my shed and takes all the abuse I can throw at it.

I like that the Dewalt set is 6 point sockets but don't like that they are not laser etched. I have a good many Craftsman sockets have had for several years but would like to have a larger set. When working on my cars it would be nice to have easy to read sockets when I'm under the cars. I helped a friend on his car and he had the Craftsman laser etched sockets and I got some tool envy. All of my Craftsman I have now are made in the USA and have never broke one and I have abused my sockets at times. I'll look at the Kobalt and Husky when I get a chance.
