This is a great deal, the link show the chineese version. I got my hands on the made in American metric set. I would have bought American standard as well, but they only had the chineese set at my sears.... Should have asked them to look in back.... Oh well still got a killer deal on the Metric set

Kinda old news. They go on sale about every other month. Rarely are they not on sale to some degree. Some (probably remote) parts of the country report to have a few USA made sets left. Locally we have been USA made dry for months  My local store is mostly Chinese, barring the few non common items like 3/4" drive stuff.

Not sure if I would pay $40 for the Chinese set. They are different, but ironically come in a nicer case than the USA ones. :headscrat

I've heard people receiving USA sets if they order and ship to their home, but it is a gamble. I realize the photo shows a USA set, but well.....you can take your chances.

The sets that go in sale for $20 are the cman evolve. I'm not sure the difference. I have an evolve set that seems to do the job for me.

i need a metric set but i wish it started with 10 instead of 12.

If you are using a 1/2 drive ona a 10mm bolt then you are most likely are going to snap it right in half.

the American standard link shows the chineese set. If I get around to it I will get a pick of my american set I just bought a few days ago

Did you buy them in store or online? What part of the country are you in? Large or smaller city?

I drove around to 5 stores today and found 1 set of deep and one set of shallow that were made in USA. I bought them both even though I don't need them.

I have both the SAE and metric which I use daily since purchase a few years ago. No issues at all, at the $40.00 price they are a steal. Grab em while there are some USA made ones floating around.

I'm pretty sure that one of each isn't hoarding. Heck, it's not even a complete backup set for what is essentially a consumable.

Then again, since there is no way to replace them with USA sockets in the future I may just sell them all and buy a set that I know I can replace or add to as needed. Anybody got a suggestion for an affordable USA brand?

I bought SAE and Metric, added a set of 3 ton jack stands, and then used the $15 off 75, plus I had a $15 of free SYWR off a $75 purchase, so I ended up getting $105.72 worth of sale priced items for $81.90 out the door. Can't complain about that.

I have been leaning towards JH Williams if SO prices are out of reach (second hand). JH Williams you sent the item in and they warranty it out. SK you need to go to a local dealer with receipt from the stores around by me. I may also entertain MAC as I did have a good experience with them.

Common theme sure "follows" you everywhere !!

OP is offering up information so GJer's who want some impact sockets for a good deal can get them. Notice the title of thread is CRAFTSMAN impact sockets.

. . . . So . . . instead more babble about WARRANTY tricks you have on OTHER brands !!??&#*$&#?!@?

Start your own thread, and just put all your "Warranty Tricks" in there !! It's now well known you've got all the brands covered. :lol_hitti

I need the sae deep. I will check westland and rome hilliard road again to see if they have any. Missed out on the westerville sears hardware clearance/closing. Found out about that store closing after all the hand tools were gone.

THey only have tools at 30% off most of the things I need/want are cheaper at other sears than they are there bc they mark everything back up.

I don't see where in his post he was talking about a "warranty trick." He didn't say anything about buying used JH Williams, only snap on. Then mentioned how the JH Williams warranty works. And he was just replying to somebody else asking about other good USA sockets.

Maybe you should read a little closer before you post so rudely :lol_hitti
