Why the female end? And not male like a regular ratchet
Any ideas on age?

That was a popular configuration back in the 20s and 30s. I'm no expert on C-Man, but that rat looks from about that era.

It was made by Husky. Approximate age range is 30's to late 40's. It would have had a removable drive plug set in whichever side to reverse it.

Mine is well used and still works as it should.

Old sockets had a shaft (male) and some used a stud (male) that went into a regular socket.

Cool thanks guys. I have a double male extension that is Taiwanese or china but it still works as it should.

Dug it out of an old falling down chicken coop at grandparents farm
