Hey guys, I've got a Craftsman 44976 and I understand that these ratchets are becoming kind of rare.... Well it's missing a tooth :'( I am looking for a rebuild kit and am wondering if anyone knows somewhere that would have one or a different number kit that works with it? Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

That's the old long lever tear drop rat from before 1992 right.?
Won't the rebuild kits from a regular old style 1/2" drive rat work?
Or just get an older 1/2 regular length rat, pull the guts and use that. They're as common as Mosquitos at a cookout.

These kits only fit U.S. made ratchets. Asian made ratchets have AA stamped on the handle and these kits WILL NOT FIT them. I have a separate

listing for the kits for the Asian made ratchet repair kits if you need one of those.

The kit number is listed first. The ratchets that the kit fits follow. If your ratchet isn't on this list then Sears/Craftsman considers it to be obsolete

and there is no kit currently available for it, although I have read posts on various "tool head" bulletin boards about using current kits to fix older ratchets.

Ive got a 43447 ordered! Hopefully it fits, I have a shorter handle 1/2 rat that has the identical head and what not and the repair kit "fits" that one, should be fine! Thanks again!

I passed on a Craftsman long handle 1/2" drive quick release ratchet yesterday at the Flea market. Seller wanted $30 for it. It was in perfect working order. Should I have picked it up? There probably would have been a little wiggle room on price.

$30 is fair they are somewhat rare,$20 or $25 would have been a really good deal. I hardly ever see them at flea markets or estate sales any more.
