Yes that's a very good deal. Those long handle ratchets are long discontinued and fairly rare. They also fetch good money on Ebay.

Nice find. Its a shame sears gave those up for the flexy ones. Cost cutting wins again...

why not sears just make both long handle and flex long handle.. i have 2 long handles and 4 flex long handles. but most of them are snap on... because i can find it and cheap price while craftsman's long handle are very rare and too pricy for me so i went for snap on...

eric87,

Yes, you got one of the good old crafty ratchets...well made and very durable. And, you got it at a good price. I'm guessing, if you take it apart, clean it, and lube it every 5 years or so, you'll be using it for the rest of your life. Nice find!

it is funny i was at the local flea market on sunday and i saw another long handle craftsman ratchet for $40 i didn't buy it . so i went to hamilton tool in beaver falls PA. and found this one for $20. so i saw two in the last week. the small 1/4'' ratchets are starting to be somewhat of a pain. tried to fix one by getting another now i have two that dont work . i did however find that small ratchet in a plomb LA box full of !/4'' sockets for $11

eric87,

So what's the problem with the 1/4 drive ratchets? Are you missing teeth on the ratchet gear and/or pawls?

If so, you'll just have to scrounge up some usable parts on ebay or Craftsman Club (post to Adam on the Tool Talk thread).

If not, a good soak in carb cleaner, wire brushing, and fresh lube should set you free.
