Thanks for the information, I have been trying to figure out which catalog would have it in. Now I just need to find that catalog, do you have a link or anything to this catalog? I really need to get a paint sprayer setup so I am not linited to rattle can paint colors, I would have preferred to repaint it in the original "Machinery Grey" color. Agian thanks so much!

The old catalogs won't help you at all; prior to the 1970's and 1980's the catalogs had small scale black & white illustrations (i.e. drawings, no photos & no colors).

Your best bet is to find somebody here on the GJ with a similar vintage chest/cabinet with original paint on it. Have them take a high resolution photo of the best section of paint on the box. Have them make sure the photo color rendering is spot on with the original paint. Then take the photo or JPG file and use that as your color chip.

For what it's worth, I don't think your silver/gray spray paint is that far off from the gray hammer tone paint that the OEM used. And, I've seen many vintage crafty boxes with aftermarket spray can repaints that look very faithful to the original Machinery Gray. So it can be done. There's a couple of guys here on the GJ (I don't remember their names) that do all kinds of vintage Crafty restorations. Seek them out and check out their resto threads; they can help you find the right color/finish/brand in an available off the shelf spray can. Good luck.

The matching roll cab is M6527 8-drawer ca. 1955-1958. The roll cab is even more rare than your chest.

In 25 years of mining the southwest, I've never seen the roll cab in the wild

I used to live in San Antonio and miss the place. San Antonio, because of it's size, is a great place for mining vintage tools & equipment; lots of flea markets, swap meets, pawn shops, and auctions. And, all the military bases in the area pump lots of surplus specialized tools & equipment into the mix.

Then I must be looking in all the wrong places. I work Mon-Fri so I ratrely can go on the first day of the Estate sales that start on Thursdays and Saturday garage sales are usually a bummer. I have never tried any Swap meets and the "bussey's" Flea Market(Not sure if you remember that, it's off 35) is awful and full of China junk. Any recommendations. Any tips are appreciated!
