Mine is the later 103.0305 but uses the same spring and knob. Mine was also missing the knob and spring. I have seen them on ebay occasionally at around $100. I have a lathe, so I made my own from a piece of aluminum.
I'm new here and this is my first post so hello to everyone. First let me say this is a great site and has tons of good info on this model drill press in particular and vintage drill presses in general. I was given a Craftsman 103.0305 Mohawk drill press by a friend who got it from his uncle...

The inside cavity is sized to the OD and width of the springs I found, the OD is a bit under the ID of the opening in the head and the head was made by cutting a couple of angles and blending with a file. The grooves were made by using the lathe carriage to make a series of shallow cuts on the edge using a lathe tool on it's side and a piece of flat stock in the 72-tooth bull gear to index the 72 cuts. I also changed the method of adjustment just cuz I wanted/liked it that way.
