Probably made in the USA by Western Forge. Great pliers. The dips aren't as good as Channellock or Knipex, but other than that, great pliers and great bang for the buck. The tips of the heads usually line up pretty nice on the Western Forge, and steel is high grade. Mine have lasted forever, except the dips are falling apart some. Especially if you use them for oily or greasy work. The oil/grease seeps in between the metal handle and the handle dip, then the handle dips start to twist around on the tool. But that's my only negative, that the dip could be better.

A pretty full line of pliers for 65 bucks, can't beat that.

I have two sets of them.

The rubber dipped ends **** and where off quick. The rest is good though.

Anyone know what is good to redip them in?

This, the can on the left end. Comes in a bunch of different colors and can even be double dipped.

I think the 2 smaller pliers are made in China. The others should be USA.

This is mentioned in two of the reviews too. I laughed (and at the same time wanted to cry) at this one:

The two smallest, 4-1/2" Long Nose and 4" Diagonal Cutter, are made in China. The rest are USA.

The 4" Cutter also has a relief on the cutting surface near the joint, so you can't cut all the way to the joint. The other cutters have cutting surface all the way to the joint, as it should be.

The 4-1/2" Long Nose has the Craftman logo spelled "CRRFTSMRN". Guess the "A" went missing. Or pitiful quality control. Hope it's not an indicator of other quality.

Overall the set is worth buying. I personally would happily pay extra for a complete USA quality set.

I can vouch for the 8" long nose. Once you break in the joint, they're pretty darned decent. Would not hesitate to buy the set if I needed pliers.

Does it stay on?

I have used it with great results, but I clean the hell out of the pliers first, then do a bunch (5 or more) THIN coats, letting ample dry time between each. You just dip them for 30 sec or so, let dry, then repeat as many times as you like for thickness.

If you want USA made mini pliers, Cripe has some Armstrong branded units on fleabay that are just about the same size as the 2 pliers in this craftsman set. They are $8 each, which seems reasonable to me. I have them and they are well made.

I really need to stop looking at this section of the forum... :willy_nil

I had some "bonus" Shop Your Way rewards points expiring today, so I figured I might as well grab these. I hope they are as nice as you guys are saying they are (although the comments about the dips don't inspire tremendous confidence).

Hope when you warranty them in a few years they don't switch them out for Chinese versions. I'm clearing out all of my Kobalt pliers and starting my Channel Lock and Knipex sets.

The US made pliers by Western Forge are some of the best things still left there. While not as good as channellock or klein, they aren't far off and much better value on sale like this. I've used some like these for 20+ years and still good.

Some other good things still at Sears are a 6 piece wood chisel set, made in USA:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-6-pc...0936866000P?prdNo=16&blockNo=16&blockType=G16

or 5 piece scraper set also made in USA:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-5-pc-scraper-set/p-00947406000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

These are not mentioned here too often but are good tools if you could use them. Some will use a 3/4 or 1" wood chisel as their scraper for gaskets. - Paul

That wood chisel set is Really Nice.

Is anyone getting the $5 off $20 tools coupon code in the smartphone app?

With the sale price, the coupon code, free SYWMax shipping, that would make a really sweat deal on that set.
