My 15.6V Craftsman drill and flashlight charger stopped working. At sears price it is not worth buying a new charger but I have plenty of DC converters. The charger is not labeled for voltage or current. Does anyone know the voltage and current ratting?

A NiCd charger is more than just a DC converter. You must control the charge or the batteries will fail.

I'd suggest flea markets and yard sales and see if you can find a suitable replacement.

Thanks. The charger seems to be the 1st thing to go on these. I replaced the drill with a 19.2V unit a year ago but miss the flash light and wanted to try to salvage it.

Are you sure it is your charger has stopped working and not your batteries have gone bad? I have the Craftsman 15.6V combo set (light and drill) which I really like, but first one and then the other battery got to the point where they won't take a charge.

Replacement batteries are too expensive at Sears--one replacement battery cost amost as much as a new set!

I keep thinking I'll rebuild the battery packs. I think they contain 13 AA-sized NiCad cells. These can be had inexpensivley on the Internet. Just a little bit of soldering work. Now I just need to get around to it!

Frank, Thanks for the tip, I will have to do some fit checking.
TMZ, yes it is the charger. It has no voltage and when I put 18v on the battery for a a few min that batteries work.
