Craftsman 150 DP handle

I need a couple and there are two on fleebay right now but not sure if I want to drop the coin. One is Buy it now for 29.99 and the other one is at 16 bucks. That will be over 50 bucks for two handles by the time you count shipping. I'm thinking I could make my own out of some SS bolt stock and come up with something snazzy for the knobs for less money.

I've seen people use screwdriver handles for knobs, if you can find some stainless bolts with the right length/thread, cut the head off and drill the screwdriver handles to fit.

I would opt for making my own. It doesn't even have to be SS, you can just use regular steel and polish it. The original one may be just that.

I was also thinking of using pool balls for the knobs if they're not to big.

If you are going to buy them, make sure that you get the correct version for the drill press you have. Early ones had handles where the male threaded portion was a smaller diameter than the handle shaft. Later ones had the thread diameter the same as the handle shaft.

If you have the early type, get a steel rod of the correct shaft diameter and tap a female thread in the end. Then screw in a set-screw and bottom it out. Use loctite to make sure the screw will never move. Add the handle of choice to the other end. You will be stronger than the original factory ones.

Keep an eye out at yard sales and flea markets for a tabletop billiards set. The balls are smaller and would be closer to the appropriate size.

Good idea jake. What about snooker balls, aren't they smaller?

I think I am looking at the same handle. Just got a 100 and 150 and the 100 is missing 1 handle too

If mine was missing two, I'd probably go a custom route. But since its just one and there is one available, I may go that route and just shell out the money for it.

I'm not sure, I think they're the same size as billiard balls. It's the table that's larger.

On a side note, I had an Uncle (gone now) who bought an entire house because he knew that there was a Snooker table trapped in the 2nd floor parlor and also knew of a guy that was looking to buy one. He said that it damned near killed him removing the table, but he got a good price for it and then re-sold the house for a profit. He turned everything over in two weeks so that his wife wouldn't know about it until he handed her the cash.
Incidentally, the house used to be an old Western Auto store in the 50's and early 60's and was full of NOS WA car parts that a cousin was able to liquidate to hotrodders on ebay.

Enco sells some type of plastic balls already threaded that would be nice for that application.
I have used them for door knobs for a delta bandsaw. (the smaller ones, they have all sizes)
