Craftsman 150 feed return

Hi all, looking for a solution for my Craftsman 150 (103.24821) drill press I picked up recently- it's missing the feed return hand knob and the feed return spring, which is a annoying problem with frequent use. Looks like the hand knob is rather difficult to find, while the spring seems available through Sears.

I'm wondering how the feed return system works, and if there's a way I can fabricate my own hand knob to work with what I hope is the correct spring- https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/11324511/0247/0713080.html

Does anyone have that part handy btw?

Your 103.24821 is a later model 100. That spring on SPD is for a late model 150 and some later drill presses.

You have a couple options that depend on your objective; to get a good running machine, or return it to factory-like condition.

That late 150 spring on SPD is actually not a bad deal and can be used on an earlier machine by doing something like the following:

There are also several assemblies on ebay that have the correct spring. This one is probably the best deal.

I do have a spring tension knob. PM me if interested.

Thank you FrankLee, hadn't seen all the info you have on these dp's. Unless parts were swapped, I believe it is a 150- it is identical to this photo,
except it is dark grey in color.

I'd like to bring it to factory condition if it's not too far gone and the price is right for the necessary parts. Based on what I've read from your posts, it looks like the spring with a loop on one end will be what I'm looking for if I want to install with the knob, and if I want to rig it as shown above, I use the spring with loops on each end?

OK, a 150. I still get confused on model numbers, versus model year, versus owners manuals.

Anyway, if you're doing oem parts, you'll likely need to go the ebay route, or find another donor machine for a spring.
