Craftsman 150 - Part out or sell cheap?

I picked up one of these drill presses a while back and planned to restore it. In the meantime I found another that doesn’t need restoration and I have enough projects that I’m not inclined to put much effort into this. I have over $100 in the thing but it needs a quill spring and a couple other parts, including handles. Motor works and resto is achievable.
I can post pics later but if it were to go to a good home I’m leaning more toward giving it to someone who will love it than parting it out.
I’m a new poster but have read much here over the last couple of years and enjoyed all the videos, pics, and information on these DPs.

It takes a lot of effort to part these out. If parting out, you will sell a few parts quickly, more parts over time and other parts will never sell.

IMO, if your not inclined to put much effort into it, sell it whole as a project.


Of the 132 drill presses that passed through my shop, 92 were refurbed and 34 were parted out. I've had to scrap at least two dozen head castings.

Should be obvious which unit is the one I’m hanging on to.
I bought a new power cord for the older one and got the quill pulley from e-Bay as it was missing. I also have an engine turned headband I got from e-Bay before I knew much about these things and it turned out to be for the smaller unit (80?).

At this point I’m trying to make space in my small shop and get on with other things.

Yeah, I would put the 100 back together as much as possible and sell it whole. The 150 is nice!

I was going to suggest that you could keep the base/column/table and repurpose it as a grinder stand. It works much better than the oe pedestal grinder stand, IMO. But if you're space constrained, it may not be feasible.

Yeah. I have a grinder on the bench in my garage and it doesn’t currently see a ton of use.

The 100 came on the floor stand and the 150 on the tabletop. I swapped them and intend to put it on a Rockler trolley like my jointer. Mobile but solid.

What’s a fair price to ask? I have probably $200+ time in it, due to ignorance. I listed in FB marketplace for $125.
