Yeah, that's an insane deal. One-handed saws generally go for close to $200. My dad just sold a new one he had for $240 just last week. They are really good saws. They have just as much power as the larger ones. It'd be interesting to pit one in a battle against a Milwaukee Hackzall.

I saw that one but also saw a few really nice ones selling for $150. Would have kept it but have to make back some cash for other deals.

That one is for the hammer drill, the current heavy duty C3 drill also has a metal style chuck but I have not held it in my hand personally so I don't know how it compares. You can find the part numbers if you download the PDF manuals. I might try to do that later and see what the price is for heavy duty one. There's other Jacobs ones too you can find on eBay it's a 1/2-20 thread IIRC, basically all the cordless 1/2" drills use the same size. Only difference some are a single sleeve, some are two sleeve (where you have to hold the back part of the chuck with one hand and tighten the front part up because the clutch doesn't lock).

But I am curious whether to maintain both lines or try to convert completely.

I'd sell mine....I never use it...it only has maybe an hour of running on it. Only thing damaged is the scabbard.

C3 is finished as far as Sears is concerned. The last new tool was released in the fall of 2014, and they are just selling a few basic tools like drills now, and I'm not even sure how much longer that will be.

Will SBD sell C3 compatible tools? I really would love to know and few things would make me happier than to see new SBD made C3 tools. I think it'd be smart to take advantage of the huge built-in customer base, but like you, I doubt that will happen. I'd be out a lot of money if they did release new C3 though, lol.

If they do release a Craftsman-branded cordless power tool line, I have a feeling it would just be a Craftsman clone of their crappy and neglected Porter-Cable line. Whatever happens, I plan on keeping my C3 tools for years to come.

The chainsaw has been discontinued for years. Like basically every other tool, it's eBay or Craigslist at this point. They pop up pretty frequently, so it shouldn't be hard to fine one, but they are kind of pricey.

You aren't going to find any old tools at ACE stores, ACE didn't start selling Sears items until after most of those tools were discontinued. However checking Hometown / Hardware / Outlets stores, especially in small towns has a better than average chance. A C3 vacuum was in my Hometown store sitting on the shelf for 5 years! Many of the items since they are discontinued won't show up online in inventory, you have to go to the stores, and also since they are so old probably have clearance pricing.

TTI makes the power tools for both Ryobi & Craftsman. Their products are identical except for the battery connection and minor body styling. There could easily be a full line of Craftsman branded products but Sears doesn't have the cash flow to pay TTI for all those items and I'm sure sales have been dwindling so they slowly discontinued and focused on their basic items that sell the most...

Since Ryobi is dead set on their current battery pack, theory would go that making Craftsman branded ones will continue too for the foreseeable future.

Of course, nothing is forcing SBD to use the tools made by TTI. They could just as easily have their factories that make Dewalt also make craftsman and just sell different model numbers...

Most people prefer to stick with one line of tools for a common battery pack, but really I guess it just depends on how much you use your tools and if there are any duplicates. I have all CMan brand just because that is what I started with and they work great for my DIY use. If I mixed with another brand, as long as I had at least 2 batteries I don't see an issue, when one battery dies you just use the other and by the time the second dies the first should easily be charged up.

I switched completely over to Milwaukee about a year ago and I couldn't be happier. Really the only downside is that the tools and batteries are more expensive, but the tools are more durable and more powerful. I went with Milwaukee because of the wide selection of tools, and the integration of their M12 and M18 lines working well together. Plus, the heated hoodie and jacket!

I sold all my C3 tools to a friend and a guy on CL. If someone wanted to get into a cordless lineup with a wide selection without breaking the bank, Ryobi would be the way to go. For the Pro or advanced DIY'er, Milwaukee is tough to beat.

It was like a toy compared to the fuel. But I will keep my C3 stuff probably as long as the batteries last. Although I do have a good friend trying to put some tools together and he has some c3...I may try to help him too. When my batteries die it becomes a real quandry lol.

Yeah, obviously if SBD does awesomely revive the C3 line, they will be making the tools themselves, not TTI/Ryobi. And not all the tools are TTI made. About 15% or so are made by Chervon. These are the tools that don't have a Ryobi equivalent, such as the one-handed saw, the auto-hammer, and the ratchet. Some drills and impact drivers are also Chervon made, as well as batteries and chargers. The brushless drill is also a Chervon piece.

Agree about the C3 angle grinder. It is one tool I was disappointed in. Both the Ryobi one and the Chervon one are pretty weak.

They both seem to have the basic drill and some of the multi-piece sets but the better tool-only pieces are basically gone as well as most single tool kits. Not much is available on-line anymore, either.

My hometown store I noticed recently got re-stocked with C3 stuff, a few of those 4-piece kits, a couple of the drill/driver kit, and I think a couple hammer drill kits. Only 'bare tool' items have been there for quite a while and aren't sold with battery kits (finishing nailer, 6.5" saw). I think I saw an impact wrench kit. Lots of batteries. It's all kind of inter-mixed with the corded stuff, one time I almost freaked when I thought I saw a C3 jigsaw but it was just the regular corded model...

You still might be able to find a jigsaw. I was able to order one last fall. It had a manufacture date of summer 2017 sometime. I was shocked they were still being built that late. I'm guessing TTI was probably contractually obligated to make some more after the lawsuit was settled. It is no longer available for order on the Sears website, but it is still listed on the website, which means there's some sitting on shelves somewhere in the country. It's a pretty good piece, I like it.

That's my thought. We'll all be able to use our C3 stuff for years and years to come.

Which grinder do you have? If you have the TTI one (315.FS2601B), it is larger and heavier than the Chervon one (320.51095 or sometimes listed as model 2904).

Both have the same amount of power. I bought one, can't remember which one I bought first, and wanted more power so I bought the other one as well. Even testing them side-by-side, there was no appreciable difference between the two in power. The Chervon one is a little smaller though.

With the grinders it is about perspective. I mean when I had mine I figured you know it's cordless. It's fine for a cordless. But my m18 fuel is as good as a corded grinder. I'm not sure which one I had. The other thing was the trigger. I was used to grinders that had an on off. Having to hold the trigger was a pain. I did really like that the wrench stored in the handle though. Honestly its fine if you just need one for the few times that you can't use a cordless.

I can't complain too much about my C3 grinder (pretty sure mine is the older tti version). The battery does not last long, even with the big Lithium pack. But it's very convenient when you need to do a little cutting or grinding and not near a power cord and don't feel like dragging out an extension cord. Otherwise I use my corded grinder when I need to go to town on something...

I also really like how the wrench stores in the handle, I wish all grinders were like that!

I recently (withing the last year) picked up the grinder and jigsaw and they have served me well. Maybe not pro grade, but good enough to do what I need.


And after free money from Sears I paid something like $12 for the grinder and $25 for the saw!

For the most part...

But seriously, the way Sears does it's pricing by going way up & down sometimes using points + hitting an item at its lowest price is just too good of a deal to pass up.

Also there are plenty of non craftsman items that Sears sells that using points can give a good discount on (i.e. Knipex)...

They have some good clothes too (jackets, boots, gloves)...

I would say 90% of the things I buy from Sears I use. The other 10% I give to friends or resell...

Haha yeah I use the win-it and 95% of my Sears purchases have been either free or almost free. Honestly most of their stuff these days (excluding c3) I only buy if it is super discounted. When I'm using tools I reach for the HF hand tools before CMan and they are 1/2 or 1/3 the list price.

I picked up a C3 string trimmer/leaf blower combo at an Ace about a year and a half ago, so I know that they did carry some of the line. Just not sure if the chainsaw was one of the items they did carry. All the Ace stores near me are a bit out of the way, so it's hard for me to go looking.

Anybody know what this tool's story is? Was glancing through C3 stuff on ebay and saw this impact wrench. It obviously is not the 315.id2030 300 ft/lb heavy duty impact wrench, and although it looks similar to the older 315.116020 200ft/lb model, it looked slightly odd to me, and on close inspection it is in fact not the 116020. And that sticker indicates it is a Chervon made model. Both the 116020 and ID2030 are TTI/Ryobi made models. And neither used a friction ring anvil like this one. I was unaware there were any other 1/2" impacts besides those two. The seller lists the number as 5734, but this is wrong. That number is the Chervon hammer drill. He's as bad at reading as he is at taking pictures. Googling around, I can find nothing about this impact wrench. Anyone have one or know anything?

Hey I was just going to post that if anyone is looking to round out their collection, a number of rarer items got posted on ebay this weekend.

-There is a router for $135 plus shipping. They frequently go for over $200, and the last one that was on there was in February and went for $300. The router looks like it is missing one of the two bases you could mount to it, but a quick check on searspartsdirect.com shows you can still get that for cheap.

-Also new this weekend is a buffer. Very few of these pop up. At $145 plus shipping, it's maybe a tad high, but probably won't last long.

-Also posted is a PAINT SPRAYER! First one since November. Unfortunately its the same clown who was trying to sell it a couple years ago for a few hundred dollars, and they now want even more....$625 plus shipping! And it probably does not work based on their description. Being a very mediocre paint sprayer, they don't normally get $150. Seller is insane.

-There is another new blower vac listed. It's listed as new, but it appears to be missing it's flexible hose though. For some reason these have suddenly popped up with frequency and nobody seems to be buying them. Lafester here on the forum has had one for sale at a good price for way too long now. Somebody buy that!

-Two of the 7.25" circular saws were listed this weekend. The best 19.2 one Craftsman made. One is listed at $185, which is kind of high although it looks like it's practically new, but one is $125 and probably won't last long. One has already sold this weekend for $120.

-A used one-handed recip saw is on for $190 which is probably too high, but there is a new-in-box one for $195. The last 3 new ones went for $180, $230, and $250, so $195 is a pretty good deal.

-A third RC car got listed for $189. Not sure what to think on the price. These were bringing over $200 at one time, and three listed for sale at one time was unheard of, but maybe the market is cooling on RC cars. They seem to be sitting with no buyer.

EDIT: Oh and a like-new caulking gun was listed. $215 plus shipping. That seems to be about what Craftsman 19.2 ones go for. 5 have sold in 2018 from $170 to $240. Never figured out why they are so much. It seems like a simple tool, but looking a DeWalt and other companies, that's about what they run.

What's the model number? I think the newest is 315.HD2000.
