I am thinking of getting a 19 volt Craftsman Cordless Impact wrench for a friend for Christmas. He is a pro but would use it at his house for say tires. He has air for big jobs. Can this impact do some work? I know that it is only around 200 ft lbs . I have a Snap-On 3850 which is about the same output and it handles my tires ok. Thanks!!

I've have used one at work for about 6 months now. As long as the battery is in good shape its great for doing light stuff. I don't have to much troubles with lug nuts as long as the person before me over torque them. I can take off and put on 12 to 16 tires before I need to put the battery on the charger. That is with the Ni-Cd battery.

I've posted five or six times the CM C3 19.2 impact. I've had one for probably three race seasons now. Works great. I have Ni-Cad batteries. They are strong, last a reasonable amount of time. I torque the lug nuts at the track to 90# and as long as the battery is no more than say 3/4 discharged ... the impact wrench takes them to 90# or beyond.

I have many of the C3 tools and really, really like them. The new Li-Ion batteries should make it only better. I highly recommend. Your friend can add the other tools for around home has he or she needs them.

I have one, and sometimes when I use it with the compact lithium batteries it will just quit until I take the battery out and put it back in again, after that it works fine. Other than that no complaints, especially with the price.

I bought this unit to basically have around to take off lug nuts and with the Ni-Cad battery it was very disappointing. It really struggled to take off my lugs tightened to about 100 ft/lbs. I was about to give it away before I got a Li-Ion battery for Christmas last year and tried it out. I've got to say the difference is night and day. It will handle several sets of lug nuts without losing power or torque with the lithium battery. It is now a worthy unit to have in my opinion. Just make sure you have lithium battery for max performance!

I highly recommend the 1/2" C3 impact combined with a Li-Ion battery for an outstanding value. I have several C3 batteries including the compact Li-Ion and have had no issues with any of them. In fact I usually reach for the compact Li-Ion, which keeps the tool light and nimble. The new high-capacity XCP 4 A-h battery will give it plenty of use between charges.

I have to wonder if some who report poor performance with the C3 don't just have a bad cell in the nicad pack?

The catch I see with the C3 is that its cheap and a great deal with the nicad, I paid $92 incl tax for mine, but its a good $60 more to get the LiIon kit and that puts it in contention with IMHO better impacts like the Milwaukee or Makita 18 or 20v stuff.

I have both the 1/2" and 3/8" and don't seem to have a bunch of luck with the nicad either, I just recently bought a li-ion from a guy in classifieds, I'm anxious to try it, for the cost of the impact you really can't beat the money, I'm fairly new to the cordless impact deal but I'm slowly turning more towards it for jobs then the air. I wil report when I try the ION battery.

I like mine as long as it has a li ion batteries. I've used it while repacking the wheel bearings on my trailer. It pulled all 4 tires off and put them back on one battery. The Nicads wouldn't hold up but about 3 wheels for me. I invested in the li ion batteries because I have a lot of 19.2 stuff. Hate to throw the tools away just because the batteries were trashed.

I hope you have the correct charger for those Li-Ion batteries; the charger that comes with the Ni-Cad batteries generally are not compatible with the Li-Ion batteries.

Came with the battery I bought, besides checked with sears my charger is compatible.

I'm pretty sure all of the Red and black chargers will charge all of the different chemistries (NiCd/LiIon). It will say on it if it's the Multi-chemistry charger.
