For sale is a 1947 Craftsman 1/2hp drill press in mint sweaty condition. My hobby is restoring old american iron. I restored one of these down to nut and bolt, only it was a bench model from 1946. Very little differences. I decided i wanted the floor model so sold the bench model. I was going to restore this but i recently purchased a bridgeport milling machine and this is now unneeded to me.
The table is MINT. NO drill holes. Everything is strait and true. Everything works as it should but this is not ready to be used. The grease and oil in the motor bearings and work surfaces have varnished and solidified a long time ago. To make it a worker, you need to spend 2 hours repacking the motor bearings, and relubing the spindle and working parts of the drill press.
This is a rare machine. The motor plate is NOT CRACKED and it has the famous and impossible to come by center 'slow speed pulley' which is shown in the photos.
This was purchased by me from a guy in Belchertown, MA. It was originally purchased from a Sears catalog by his father in law who passed in the late 80's. They cleaned out his wifes fathers garage and this was in it. Covered in dust, never used.
If you purchase this drill press, you will have the honor of being the fourth owner. This is REAL AMERICAN STEEL.
ALL PARTS accounted for. NOTHING missing. I will also include a factory Craftsman drill press vicse, which can be found in Craftsman catalogs from that era, which was specifically meant for this drill press. How awesome is that!

Machine can be shown under power, only briefly as it needs lubing up.
