Heads up for anyone interested.

In store these list for $20.99. Web site has them for $8.97. Sears web site does not have an accurate inventory as to which stores have them. One of my local stores had 2 of them. I asked the guy at the counter to verify the price. He checked and in store it was $20.99 and on the net $8.97. He gave it to me, under the price match garrantee, at $8.97. PLUS... because it was a price match from Sears' own system, I got another $1.20 off the price. So, a $20.99 wrench out the door for $7.77! On top of all that, I got a 15% off coupon for a tool purchase over $75.

This might be the way to handle the "deal of a lifetime" kinda deals. Instead of ordering on the web, go in store and ask them to price match. I guess this would only work if the items are in stock at your local store though.

Technically if anyone goes the "this is a inaccurately scanned price" route, they could get an additional $5 off. Sears' price accuracy guarantee stipulates that if an item scans incorrectly, you'll get $5 off (if it's >$5) or 5% off (if >$100).

That only works if it is marked in the store incorrectly. (Scanned price doesn't match the displayed price.)

They may have stopped making the raised panel version; they were hanging around our clearance area at a reduced price for awhile and now they are gone!

Has anyone actually encountered a 19 or 21 mm flare nut? Where might one use this wrench? Or is it more for collection purposes and filling the "gap"?

I have used it as a shorter 19 or 21mm wrench to work in tight places.

I will be using mine for tight places. Yes, most of its duties will be filling the gap. I don't see anything wrong with collecting AND using tools. I know I don't use mine nearly as much or as hard as everyone else on this forum. I am hoping to do a little more here this summer.

I have my eye on a project that will require both SAE and MM tools. Silly Americans, we just couldn't decide what we were going to use in the early 80's! I am also going to complete a project for my father. ('66 bug restoration) Its out of paint and on the truck headed here. I am going to do the suspension and engine install for him. Maybe add a few little special "gifts" for him along the way. ;)

My project, I hope, is going to be an '80 Olds cutlass. Going to go with a 502/572 (haven't decided yet) with a t56 and 9" ford rear. I have a set of OEM wheels in storage that I want to get split and add about 2 inches to the rear and 1 inch to the front. I want it to look fairly stock from the outside. Now, if I can just find the right car!

Oil cooler lines, power steering, A/C fittings, hydroboost, hydraulic pumps, etc.

I can honestly say I've never used a 19 or 21mm flare wrench. Closest sizes would be 20mm (GM fuel filter and ac lines), 15, 16, and 18mm (GM power steering hose fittings). The smaller sizes 14 mm and under get used most on anything and everything.

I know I have encountered 19mm on PS rack & pinion units on Japanese cars.

I thought I had a 21mm A/C fitting on my truck, but after checking, it is 22mm.

I recently loaned my 19mm x 21mm to the mechanic at work for use on a Massey-Ferguson tractor he was rebuilding. The tractor appears to have been made in Japan.

Early 70's Toyota's with dealer installed AC use several 21 mm fittings.

Make sure you get the "polished" or "Professional" version. The regular ones are garbage. They like to just open up instead of taking off the flare nut.

I bought these for the $8.97 price a couple months back with free shipping. For me it was a filler and the local store wanted something like $21. The website didn't have a picture but the description matched and the product number was in the right range as the other Cman Pro's.

Don't sweat it... It it spreads you'll be able to trade up to a pro version. I've done that with a wrench that was only out of stock, not discontinued like yours.

If you came into my store; I would end up giving you a full polish pro as a replacement! We don't have any raised panels to give out as a replacement! :bounce:
