I went over to take a look at them the other day. They have been on sale at that $65 price since about Wednesday of last week.

I think "Heavy Duty" is a relative term to Sears. I was thinking they where light duty in the store when I saw them. Paper thin thickness metal, light and flimsy. You could actually open the drawer, and hold each end with your hands, and wiggle them up and down, and back and forth like a tin can. Also, they are only 12 inches deep. I wouldn't recommend a middle chest less than 16 inches deep, because you can't hold much in the 12 inch middle chests.

I was going to pick up two of them, because I like stacking the middle chests on my benches and shelves. But I passed. Even at $65, I still walked away.

They have another middle chest on sale that is about $90. That one is 16 inches deep, and is sturdier thickness steel. That one I think was a better deal.

These fit the 12" (deep) top boxes (I have 2). They are not used on top of a rollaway cabinet, but in a shallow stack where I only have 14" of space available (room for the top box's lid to open). And I have room for a pair beneath a wall-hung overhead cabinet which is also 12" deep.

Yeah, I'm not that impressed with Craftsman tool chest quality, these days. The HF 16" deep top box is the equal, or better, of my 16" Craftsman. The HF at least came with drawer liners. Neither holds a candle to my ancient Kennedy rollaway's and Kennedy/Craftsman machinist chest. My decades old Craftsman rollaway's are only OK.

For $65 I've decided to take a chance that they will provide useful storage in the shallow space available. Also I have arranged to pick them up at our nearby Sears store. So I can inspect them before taking delivery.

$129 now.......Any one have an idea when, why or how sears decides to change their prices. :dunno:They seem to change up or down similar to the price of gas on a whim.:willy_nil. Yesterday was cyber monday but it seems like it happens often. If you have any insight please share:beer:

I think that was a left over Black Friday deal. That actually started Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, and ran through Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. It probably ended last night for Cyber Monday.

I was watching them and took a look at them, and almost pulled the trigger on a couple. I had to really resist and hold myself, because I'm only buying 16 and 18 inch deep stuff. But was really tempted with the price. The quality is on the low-end, but for the price you could use it for low weight items, like screwdrivers, parts, nuts and bolts, accessories, etc. Just don't put sledge hammers in it and expect it to last.
