I'm looking to pick up some Craftsman Thin Profile Ratchets and have heard rumors that the set which includes the extensions on Sears.com is all USA made. Before i pull the trigger i was hoping to hear from anyone who has bough this set recently and be able to tell me the COO. My understanding is that its only the set which includes the extensions are USA made and the set which is just the three ratchets is Taiwan made. Thanks for the help.

I asked this question a couple weeks again to the Sears chat people and both times they told me it's a Taiwan product. However, I've also seen people say they got USA ones, so i guess it's a **** shoot on what you'll receive in the mail.

I bought this set a couple of weeks ago, and received all USA items - all three ratchets and extensions. Then it sold out, so I have to wonder whether the restocked items are USA or Taiwan. I haven't seen the three piece set or loose stock ratchets made in USA in the stores for at least a year, I would guess, so how many USA ratchets can they possibly have in stock?

The box I received had no packaging at all, just three ratchets and three extensions thrown in a box. They all looked new, if dirty. I read someone say theirs looked like they were repaired returns.

They have the individual ratchets in the store but not six piece set with all three ratchets and the extensions. The individuals in the store are not USA made

I've ordered 3 sets of the 6pc over the past 2 months. All 3 have been USA. They are thrown in a box with no packaging. They do come a little greasy (I'm assuming that is why one person thought they were used/repaired). I sold a set to a friend and gave a set to my dad. I don't think you can go wrong, especially with the Save15 coupon code.

Edit: I've been to 5 or 6 different stores over the past 6 months looking for the thin profile (individuals or sets) and NONE of them have been USA around Dallas or Houston.

Ya. I just called the stores in the Portland, Oregon area and none of them were USA made. With the 15 off coupon how much was each set? Right now they 89.99 but I swear just recently I saw them for 74.99 before coupon.

Even if you land a USA made thin profile set they will be imports when it comes replacement time. I had a 1/4 drive USA one some years back and it just would not hold up to shop use. after I replaced it like 4 times I bought a Snap-On one. Locking flex head version. Took a while to get a hold of using the locking mechanism, but its by far the favorite ratchet I own.

Ya i have been checking them out on Ebay but they usually end up going for a pretty penny. I got my fingers crossed that they will arrive made in USA. If not they will be returned.

I have the old us made1/4 version. I dislike all quick release ratchets now i think their for "sallys". Sealed head all the way!

I bought this set like a year ago at sears. Mine are not USA stamped. They are still nice.

Check ace hardware if you have one. Also check sears hardware if you have one. My local sears hardware had all USA made sets of 3'in stock. Local ace had USA made singles last time I was there

The low profiles I see in the stores now are all Taiwan made. I put together a 3 piece set of low profiles while they were still US made. Like them all.

Just to let anyone know who is interested in purchasing this set I went and picked mine up at Sears today and all three ratchets and the extensions were USA made. As I have heard from multiple other sources my order also was just thrown into a box with no packing whatsoever. Luckily everything was undamaged and accounted for.

I ordered these ratchets with the extensions from sears.com last week. All six pieces were made in U.S.A. which I was happy about. Overall I like the look and feel,.. seem like a quality set of ratchets to me. Not sure how they're still selling American made ones though as I've read that these have been made in Taiwan for a few years now.

When I first say these they were made in the USA and then moved to Taiwan. Are they 60 tooth or 84? Good find btw.

I bought mine years ago, right before the chinese transition. I hate the things. Every single one has been rebuilt at least once. They locked up on me or got stuck in neutral. I am going to be buying snap on ratchets and calling it good for the rest of my life.

60 tooth, they feel pretty smooth to me out of the box and are probably the most quiet set of ratchets I've owned.

It looked like an price for the three ratchets + extensions to me. There's one guy on ebay right now asking $84 for just the 1/2" ratchet.

Hmm, I hope I have better luck with mine. If not I've always got my HF composites to fall back on.

Boys I think they are made by the Armstrong, Martco and gearwrench folks here stateside. I bet a 60 tooth repair would swap. Gearwrench had the Taiwan version. I bet someone might be able to come along and confirm the repair kit swap

Just received this set today.... All is non-USA.... Looks like the NOS units are gone... All three ratchets are the new 84 tooth design. I actually think they are pretty decent for what I paid. ($64 for the whole set) But I'll be sending them back. I didn't really need anymore ratchets, was trying to get the last of the Craftsman USA models..

This is the set with the extensions... forgot to add them in the picture. They are the china versions..

Noticed today that the 6 pc. set is on sale again at sears.com for $76. The same as what I paid for my all US made set a month ago. I thought about buying a couple more sets to sell on ebay later, not sure if it'd be worth it though... People are asking crazy high prices for the U.S.A. ones, not sure how much they're getting.

If they are only sending out the made in china ones now then they definitely aren't worth it.
