This is basically the same as the Craftsman 299 piece socket set, the only difference is the addition of 12 hex bits.

Item #00927034000 Mfr. Model #27034 (this is for the 311 piece set)

LINK

I've been watching the price of the 299 piece set for a while now, and when I logged on today, I saw that the 311 piece socket set was actually cheaper after the online sale :headscrat

I ordered the set today with free shipping, and after the online sale, a few coupons, and rewards programs, I got it down to a grand total of about $288 after taxes :eyecrazy:

Less than $1 per piece. Not a bad deal at all. Btw, these should be the dual marked, laser etched sockets (just like ones in the 299 piece set).

I'm not looking forward to organizing all 311 of those those sockets when they come in though :scared:

Good find. I picked up the 299 pc set about six months ago. Otherwise I'd be all over this.

This is a good set, I would cross reference what you receive with the set sheet. Mine had a couple duplicates/missing.

I just bought the 311 set a few weeks ago, make sure you check for missing sockets. I was missing a whole 1/4 drive set deep and shallow and like 6 other sockets.

I own that set as well. I really like the laser etching. The 1/4" and 3/8" sockets on my set all looked great. I have noticed a large amount of the 1/2" have missing or flaking chrome in spots. Took me about 3-4 phone calls to Apex to get new ones shipped to me, so they are all good now, but really just a pain. There are so many sockets, not sure if you are prepared or not for them.

Agreed with the two above posters. My wife bought me a 15x piece kit a couple years ago and it was missing a socket or wrench or something. Make sure you check against the packing list!!

Nice setup!

Is that the Harbor Freight 56" tool cabinet?

Also, are those the HF socket racks? How are they working out of you? Do they have all the sizes that the Craftsman sockets come in?

But I thought the benefit of buying Craftsman was the easy as pie warranty? :p

Yes and yes, both are working out greeat. The hf socket trays are awesome. Out of all the sockets I think 2 sizes were skipped so im very happy with them.

$288 is a very good price. I just bought the 299 piece set (arrives on Tuesday) and I paid something around $350 w/ tax and shipping. Not sure how you got it down to $288? My shipping was free with the REALJOY coupon code and I used the $5 off of $50 coupon code as well. So $350 was the cheapest I could get them for. Still, at about $1.20 per socket...that's not bad!

How are you using two coupon codes?

So, how many sockets in the 311 set (not counting the hex stuff) didn't fit on the HF pegs?

A few years back I thought the lazer etching was a waste of time. Now that I need reading glasses I wish all my sockets had them. Getting old *****!

If picking up a phone and talking to another human is tough for someone then I agree it's hard to get new stuff. If it's easy for someone, then yes it's easy.

The hard part was going thru 299 individual sockets.

A bunch! Which is why I went with rails that are not pre-marked for sizes.
If you drop out the larger sizes then you'll only have a few, but who wants some random socket out of line?

I was missing a few some my 299 piece set, a quick phone call to the number on the bottom of the packing list and they were on my doorstep within a week.

Not really all that bad, they came in bags pretty much sorted already just check off on the list as you go. I was done in well under an hour.

How do they look? Good? Any issues with any of the sockets? I had some nasty ones in my batch.

I received the new set a few days ago, but didn't get a chance to go through them and sort them all out until last night.

All the sockets looks great. No complaints there.

I went through the checklist and I was missing two sockets.

I quick call to the number on top of the enclosed packing list solved that. There was no wait time, and I was immediately talking to a live (American) person. He took down my shipping info and said that I should receive the missing socket in about a week. Couldn't be any easier than that :)

The hardest part was organizing all 300+ sockets

I am very happy with my purchase :D

Like someone said earlier, how were you able to put in multiple discounts?

HM800 I stumbled a cross those and they do look good but I wonder how the organization is (some of them seem to go off in random loops and stuff). I also wonder how well they hold up (like if you get oil or something on the foam).

I also think 120 for the whole set is a bit overpriced.

Ya, how did you use the coupon? In the cart it only let me puts in 1 code and it counts the visa one as a code.

I bought that set about 8 months ago when I got got a new box for home - caught it on sale and thought it was the best price per peice. It was great to get hex bits and all that, but my only beef with it is the amount of doubling up -- same size socket in all three drive sizes and both 6 and 12 point versions....

Can't really complain about that, myself, considering that the set is sold as a "complete" set for about $1/socket, and EVERYONE doubles up across their ranges.

When the other option is paying a significant amount more and NOT getting duplicates? Yeah, I'll take dupes.

Resurrecting an old thread since I just got a killer deal on the other Craftsman 311 piece set (35311) - $166.60 shipped.

Yesterday I ordered Craftsman diamond tipped screwdrivers since they went on sale - $42.39 shipped, instead of the regular $90, which got me $20 in "surprise points" from Sears. Today I used the $25 off $200 order coupon (added whatever the cheapest $2 wrench on their site was to get over $200) and this is the end result:

Needless to say, Sears has some great deals right now.

that is totally a different set. it's not just sockets... includes wrenches, ratchets, etc.
