Stopped by may local Sears Garden/Hardware (mini store). They had the same set, same part number, marked ON SALE $549, down from $599!

They guys working said these are the "New" sockets with laser etch markings only.

I just paid attention to the metrics. I liked the selection of 6pt std and deep in 1/4, both go up to 14 in metric. In 3/8 there are 6pts in std, but 12pt in deep, from 9-21 in both. In 1/2 you get 6pt std, 12pt std, and 12pt deep metric. You can download the full list on the website.

Its better than most of the sets like this that load up the piece count with fluff, but I would compare it to some of the smaller on-line only sets before buying. There's 40 hex keys, and a 12 pc screwdriver and bits set, so you can take off 52 pieces right there. If you need ignition wrenches you're in luck, otherwise subtract another 20 pieces. So in my rating, its more like a 280 piece kit.

It would still be a little shy on metrics for my needs, and way overkill on the SAEs. But if you're looking to build full set of both, and you're ok with laser etch only it would be a good start.

Even subtracting out the fluff, you're still looking at about a buck a piece. You could do a lot worse.
