Craftsman 4" jointer 103.0501

Picked up this jointer today. Not sure if I did good or bad. Screw handle on side is broke and need to get blades. I do have a motor for it. Anybody have any info in it, if its good, and where I can get new blades?

Mustang67ford, I am not a "serious" woodworker but I now have the 6" bigger brother to you Jointer and in general, many people (including myself) believe the King Seeley manufactured Craftsman products were some of the best Craftsman products ever produced. The amount of ingenuity and design functionality as well as aesthetic design are evident in these machines. The number of patents secured during this era of Craftsman products is astounding and many are still used in general design of these machines by hundreds of manufacturers today.
I would recommend you read through FrankLee's Craftsman Drill Press thread to get a feel for how this era of King seeley machines are coveted by many of us collectors here. However, it ultimately comes to you and how you feel about the purchase. If you are happy with the purchase it really does not matter what others think. Enjoy the Jointer and have fun with it.

Got the jointer up and running. Sharpened the blades that were in it but have a new set on order. How do I level the tables to be square with the fence? If I make the input table square with the fence, the output is not square and wood ends up not square? Also, put a 4" pulley on the drive motor which should equate to 3,400RPM Manual say 3600RPM is recommended. Would it be better to go with a larger pulley and higher RPMs?

Nice machine Mustang. I'm attaching the OM in case you don't have one. There's a brief, and not very detailed, explanation of squaring everything up near the end. Without having my hands on the machine that's the best I can do. I don't think you'd notice a difference of 200 rpm on a machine of that size. I'd run it awhile and decided for yourself if it needs more speed. Have fun with it!
