I would say no. Unless both jack stands came like that, but I'm thinking no. I really hate to say this, but you should just return them and go pick up some 6 tons from HF. They're $50 plus you can use coupons. I know for a fact they will support an extended cab 4x4 Ford F250 Diesel no problem. I've done it many times and actually left it supported on just the two jack stands for about a week. I still use them all the time.

I have two sets of the Craftsmans 4 tons and have no issues. I especially like the foot pads/plates on them, and it's hard to beat the price when on sale!

I also have a set of the 6 ton HF stands and I like the height, but I'm a bit disappointed in that the post has to be at a minimum on the first notch setting, and not just all the way down when using. If the post is just resting all the way down to the bottom for the lowest height, the weight of the vehical pushes the post down past the bend tab and requires pounding it back out and re-bending the stop tab. The post has a cross brace cast into the side that stops at the tab. Thought of grinding it out, but afraid it may weaken the post, so just living with it. Never had that issue on other jack stands.

So, my jack stands are slight warped at the weld points. Is this normal? I only used them on a 1 1/2 ton compact car. I just bought them about 2 months ago so will sears take them back.

I would see what a "new" one at sears looks like...especially if this happened with 3,000# on them....

that being said, I would not use these, or ones like them. Especially the Pittsburgh ones, that some places have recalled.

My life is worth more to me, than to risk this - or worse failure. Quality often costs a few $$ more, your choice though.

I'm a little confused by this comment. The "Pittsburgh ones," which I assume means the HF brand, are only sold at HF. How could "some places" have recalled them?

Has HF recalled their jack stands? I haven't heard that and a quick google search doesn't turn up any results that I see.

Have any links?

Pittsburgh jackstands had sagged, according to the local news (knoxville/chatannoga) a few weeks back, in several areas of the southeast...when brought to the attention of the stores, the items were taken off the shelf.

Similarly the NAPA ones by evercraft were recalled earlier this year. HF has not admitted any "issues" with their items.

YMMV

Can you provide any links showing this to be the case? I can't find these stories you're talking about.
