If you're talking Griplatch, then a very slim chance there's an NOS unit that they won't put on the floor because the line is discontinued. I got mine as a customer return, but in the box, very lucky. You can also order all the replacement pieces including the drawer and slides if you find one that's jacked up a little bit. Even the silver trim that goes on the front drawer latch. Pricey, but doable. Found this out after a malfunction with the left hand slide during a house move. Its worth looking, makes an OK setup just a bit nicer.

Man i wish i could get lucky... ive tried buying from people many times but they always sell it with a complete box set up and wont sell it to me individually, as well ive tried too many stores to count to find the middle and havent had any hits. Its the perfect setup i need to for my box i have right now.

I realize this one is Cali, I have no idea if they ship from an outlet store.

I only found that because I looked to see when I bought mine, it was well over year ago, I didn't realize it was a discontinued item. I brought one back to Saratoga Springs, NY. 518-583-8500, maybe you would get lucky and its sitting on a shelf in the stock room.

Good luck in your search

I know this is an old thread but curious if anyone ever runs across these for sale on CL or FBMP ?

I'm running out of room and another one of these would help rather than buying a newer box like a 56" or 72" to get another big drawer.

My other option would be to move all my air tools to something else. . . but would still entail a box of some sort.

Black drawer in the middle is what I'm talking about.

I think another company (Waterloo?) makes them under the name Posilatch (Pos-i-latch?). They seem to be available on the higher-end toolboxes. I really wish someone would bring the Griplatch back to the big box stores.

I find them on FB and CL, but you have to keep looking.

The Craftsman griplatch middle boxes are very, very... rare to find used. They didn't sell a lot of them because of the price, and because not too many homeowners needed the extra space. I've looked on Marketplace for griplatch boxes for years and never seen one in my area. But there's another like new Snap On box every week.

That is what I was seeing too.

I have thoughts of buying a new 56" and 42" box ... including tops from HF.

Looks like Viper makes a 2-drawer version if you don't like the $1500 price tag on a Snap-on KRA4860. Viper will let you choose between white and lime green...
The Viper is still $400-500 and I'm not sure what the drawer depth is. For not much more, I can buy a whole HF USGen 42" box or go along ways towards a 56".

A quick search showed that SBD bought them too. I didn't go deep into searching though.

Sold as the TRAXX series from Waterloo in the mid to late 2000s. The part numbers for the 41" single drawer are below.

I've been looking for a 3 drawer black griplatch intermediate box for years on CL without any luck.

Stanley Black Stanley tool chests sold today are basically clones of the old Waterloo/craftsman boxes but they only make a 16" intermediate and 16" too chest. Seems like they don't want to offer the higher capacity boxes under the homeowner oriented brand.

I found one about a month ago beat up for $120. I didn't bother to negotiate. Like you, I have been looking for a long while.

Adding the new drawer above the old drawer has increased the complete height of top, bottom and two centers to just over 6ft. With the lid open the top area is right at 6ft.

Waterloo still carries some service parts for them as I was able to order the last iteration handle trim (large style) to match the rest of the box. They don't carry the springs that hold the handle up so I used some leftover brake pads retainer clips and bent them into a useable shape. Since the handle trim is different than what the drawer was born with it covers about a third of the lock.

I bought the middle drawer you're looking for new on closeout. The retail was $270 and I paid $170. In 2016. Not too many people are going to pay $300, including tax, for a single Craftsman drawer- in 2016; which is why I've never seen one used for sale. Even the 26" wide three drawer middle boxes are rarely seen, because the price, and this was a homeowner-oriented box.

I saw this one the other day. Your post made me remember it. It's quite a unique piece, but I see the practicality and usefulness of it.

Those things are like gold. I was trying to find one to mount under my workbench I finally gave up. And I live in the world's largest Craigslist market!

This is exactly what I bought it for. All of my boxes are 26" wide, so I wanted a large drawer for stuff that didn't fit. But again, for $270 you can understand why they only sold a few. I actually only even see the 26" griplatch boxes a few times a year in my immediate area on Marketplace- which is over a million people.

I have one. I looked forever till I found one.
It was new but had a minor dent and I still had to pay $200 or so for, it and this was right after they were discontinued.
I am currently reorganizing my shop and may be selling the bottom and mid box depending on how things go

I'd give valuable parts of my anatomy to find one local to me. But they aren't common at all. I'm thinking whenever we move and I get my shop/garage built I'll just add more storage and put the stuff I don't use very often in there and have the box for what I use the most of.

You  are on FB marketplace and have a saved search setup, right?

You ain't talking him out of this. Not only do they match his new truck but get this......

Wait for it..

His wife was all for it :sneaky:
Sorry guys, been busy and forgot about this I brought back. My apologies.

Yes, I am not longer on the hunt for a single drawer. I pulled the trigger on new boxes with the wife's blessing. . . Actually she bought me the 42" top box for Christmas.
