Recieved this in an email from Sears. It is the quiet glide type slides, but still, it is very cheap for a 40" chest and box. Now that HF is no longer taking coupons on their tool boxes, this is $300 less than the HF top and bottom box... unless you must have BB slides.

it came in a Sears Rewards email, that they send out all the time. It also appears that you can get free shipping to the store, but it is only the red and black model at this price, if I read everything correctly. Might give them a call.

Just the HF bottom box is still more usable than that. Wider, more storage, long top drawer, better built, same price.

I'm pretty sure Sears sells one long drawer you can put in between. That being said once I got a HF box, and then played with the Craftsman quiet glide version, I thanked my lucky stars I didn't go with the Sears one.

but isnt the ball bearing much better than the quiet glide? so then its really not comparing apples to apples...you are just comparing sizes

I believe the quiet glide is basically the standard el cheapo sliders with plastic inserts.

In my local sears paper I have the 26" BB griplatch top and bottom for sale for $599. If the 40" was on sale for around $700 I would consider it. This is one thing I absolutely hate about sears, I even typed in the model number and on their web site it's showing $699 for that set that is advertised @ $599. Plus you can't find it just by browsing their web site. Really a frustrating site to use unless you know exactly what you want.

with the amount of slop and play i've seen in recent slides, it really pays to look at what you're getting if possible. i've seen older friction slides that operated much better than what many suppliers are passing off as ball bearing today.

actually, you're wrong on the storage and price claim. The Sears bottom box actually has more square feet of storage space, as well as volume of storage space= it will hold more stuff. I agree that a long top drawer is a big plus for the HF. As for price, the Sears is $379 for the top AND bottom, which is the same $ as only the bottom HF.

That box feels like **** if you go and accually play with it. The drawers are flimsy and thin metal. I pulled one all the way out and put alittle pressure on one corner of the drawer and it flexs alot...and the slides **** might be better with some weight in the drawer.

Hf box is rated for 2840 pounds how much is the craftsman rated for?
higher the rating the stronger the box. Will the craftsman hold 200# in one drawer???
