Recently acquired a Craftsman 40” Top and Bottom Toolbox Combo. I ordered a set or replacement locks as two locks were missing and one lock did not have a key. I have noticed that the top chest is missing it locking bar that keeps the top from being opened. I would like to replace this piece or fab a replacement.

Anyone have pictures of the piece that I am missing?

I found the Manufature date of 1991, but I can not find a model number for the box. Anyone know the model number?

Check inside of the top right drawer for a sticker/model number. It may also be stamped in to the metal and painted over, on the bottom of the frame.

pics of the whole box would help in identifying it. Most of my boxes have a vertical bar that is attached to the back/bottom of the lid that moves up and and down with the lid. The bar has fingers that reach out and grab the back of the drawers when lowered. If you pull out the drawers you'll be able to see if that is the case, though. Your box might be different. Can't tell from just that small pic of the top compartment.

Looks like you got lock cylinders. Are you missing the piece in the upper right corner of this pic, then?

When you said locking bar, I thought you meant these.

I am looking for the U shaped bar that locks the lid on the upper chest. This U shaped bar also plugs into the back of the lock.
What you mentioned in the picture is to hold some locks in place.
I am looking for the bar that hold the lid down.

Clearly not the same toolbox, but this part?

If it's not that, I really don't have any idea what other parts there are to holding the lid down.

I have two of those tabs on the lid of my box. From what I can tell there should be a bar that plugs into the back of the lock and rotates with the lock catching and relaesing those tabs to lock the top lid.
You can kinda see the mechanism in this YouTube video.

easy fab one up, it round bar cranked to butterfly on back of lock so when lock turned and butterfly plate rotates the rod pushed out through the holes in the 2 plates in lower box catching into the two plates in the upper lid .

Call Waterloo and see if they made it. Should at least be able to get a parts diagram to make your own, or maybe just buy replacement from them.

That’s the locking mechanism. Do you know the model number. Both Crafsman and Waterloo are having a hard time looking up parts with out it.
