For people that don't have keys.....

Just call the Sears customer support number, tell them you just bought a new tool chest yesterday from the local store, but when you opened the box it didn't have keys.

They will ask for the number on the lock, read that off to them over the phone, and they will send you a new pair of keys right away, should get them in 3-4 business days. No charge.

I did that before when I bought a chest from the Sears Outlet, and it didn't have keys.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I don't see how to change the cylinder to match top and bottom if you wanted to do that. It looks riveted shut in the surrounding area. I didn't check the bottom yet.

Here are some before and after pics of painting the left side. You can see it did not blend well because I sanded too deep. But it looks better then the scratches before.

I vacuumed, cleaned and polished the whole thing and every drawer inside and out. Next is to get some liners and put the top on.

I ordered a new badge since the one on the bottom was missing and some drawer liner. The wait is killing me, really want to start stuffing it full.

how did you swing that?????:lol_hitti

was the ONLY reason I bought it. Was talking to the manager and jokingly said "what if we buy this this and that" and he said honestly in a couple weeks they tell us to bash them up and toss them so I can do 75% off if you buy all 3, its the last ones. Also got a rolling Mechanics cart for $59.93!! the $350 one

I'm assuming when they are floor models they don't show up as inventory, is that correct.

For regular stores it seems it does not even though they say it should. Also the online inventory checker does not match the in store inventory checker. I got two tops from a store that said they hand none online, but one on the computer in the store when I called and two when he checked in the back! All I did was call call call and call. I didn't take no for a answer and even had them check the floor and the back at each location I called. But if the store is close it is always worth to check yourself because some employees may miss something and not see it or lack motivation to look properly.

Thanks for the insight. :beer:Maybe I'll make a few calls myself. :willy_nil

I went by the 3 stores closest to me. None had them. Only one store had an associate willing to look in the back when I asked.

However, they do have the black version marked down pretty decently right now (around 50%). However, the drawers feel flimsy. The griplatches seem nice, but they'd have to go to 70% for me to feel good about getting them.

Is this the full length black drawer top box? Do you have an item number for it?

So the black bottom was marked in store for $485, item 59624, just as it is online: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-40in...p-00959624000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

The top was actually marked down cheaper in store than it is online: 59623, I think maybe $380ish? http://www.sears.com/craftsman-40in...p-00959623000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

I was NOT impressed with the quality.

I didn't find either of the stainless boxes, but I did find a new in box 59623 top box for $173 today. Haven't got it fully unpacked, but I'd say either way it's a lot of box for the money.

That's a good deal. Even if you paid $485 for the matching base, that's a deal.

Yep, they just did my top.

Did you buy online and picked up in the store? Because they would not price match for me over the phone because it was a in store purchase. They said I need to go in the store.

Sears website is a little buggy after a price change. But it does not matter since you can't order this online now anyway. It is way way way out of stock.
