This was a great deal. I set my Top Chest up on a workbench that is rated at 1,500 pounds, so should be no problem for the chest plus tools.
This thing is a monster, it's going to hold a ton of tools. I also like the full length drawers that run end-to-end, instead of a bunch of short drawers like some of the other chests.
Also, this thing is heavy, 125 pounds. Since I didn't have a helper to hoist it up, what I did was remove the drawers. The drawers have a plastic thumb press on each side, you press down and they slide right out. When you remove all the drawers, you cut the weight in half. Then it was easy for me to lift and place the chest on top of the workbench. Then to reinstalled all the drawers, you just slide them in and they click into place. So that is a way you can move it by yourself. Otherwise, you need a person on each end to move this monster. Similar to moving a piece of furniture, if you remove all the drawers, you cut the weight way down.

It then will show the original full page. What is happening is that it launches the page, then immediately redirects to a browser error page not found. I guess to prevent price matching or calls to customer service asking about it.
But that will give you a working webpage with the original items. Just launch it and press stop right away before the page redirect. That will give you a current web page with current date and timestamp, that you can then print and walk to the store with.

cool trick…when I do it though the page loads but not the price…the price area has a revolving circle and not loading
If you press the stop at the right moment, you will get the price. Try it a few times. The only problem is the price that shows is the original discounted price from the original post, it is not the second lower price that lasted a few days. So would be better printing the attached screen prints further up in the thread for the cheaper price.

I made the 3hr one-way drive today (in the company truck) to pick up the chest....I'm going to drive into town (about 20 minutes) tomorrow to pick up the top box...for some reason my sears.com account is showing that I already picked up the top...but I havnt

Just got back from picking up the top....took Sears 45 minutes to figure where it was...then they told me "The manager decided it was OK to release it to you at that price."
I just gave the guy a dumfounded look and told him to put it in the back of my truck...
Now I have a full set and an extra top box that I got a year or so ago at the local Sears Repair center as a scratch & dent for 150...
so I'm doing pretty good for the time being.

I'm curious. It doesn't look like there is a lip around the top of the bottom cabinet. What keeps the top box from sliding off?

no lip...the box has a few L brackets that screw the top/bottom together..
The box is awesome. It's a heavy grade stainless, and a heavy coat of clear coat. So I don't see this thing rusting, unless you have it on a boat out in salt water or something.
And the handles are really awesome. Heavy duty and built in and fold up flush to the sides. I like them much better than the normal handles that dangle there.
A lot of things on the Sears website have mixed reviews. But I think mine is a 5 star, especially at this price.

I left the cling wrap on the top of my box just for a little extra protection..I wanted to put a yogamat between them, but it was too thick.
here;s the L bracket that secures the top to the bottom....I'd feel more comfortable it there was something additional, but once I put the box in place and move my tools over, I don't plan on moving it much at all.

That L bracket is probably more to keep the top and bottom lined up properly, so it doesn't slip a few millimeters here and there. Gravity alone would keep that sucker stable. The top is about 125 pounds empty, then load tools, and that sucker ain't going to move.

the ONLY downside to this box...is that it doesn't look like there are any compatible or matching side cabinets and that there was never an intermediate 1 or 2 drawer box made for them....
If three was an intermediate 1 or 2 drawer + a side cabinet, I'd buy them in a heartbeat even if they wern't on sale

A matching side would be nice but I think a middle cabinet would make it too tall.

I put a treadmill mat between the top and bottom of my HF boxes to act as a spacer and compensate for the flanges for the side boxes. It would work perfect for what you are wanting because it's only about 1/3 the thickness of a yoga mat and doesn't compress as easily. Got mine at Walmart in the fitness section.

There was an intermediate (1 drawer) box that was discontinued a few years ago. Wish I had seen this post before I went to my local Sears Outlet today and I would have taken photos. They have one that's pretty banged up and has been there for about as long as I can remember. They want $150 for it, and every time I see it I just laugh to myself. It's so banged up that it's really not even good for parts. You may keep a watch out on ebay because they do exist. Same thing with the side cab.

That is what I thought at first too but look at this.
The middle is:
Unit measures 41" W x 18" D x 7.5" H
Top is:
Dimensions: 41" W x 18" D x 20" H
Bottom is:
Dimensions: 41" W x 18" D x 39-1/4" H

If you're referring to the intermediate chest, it states 40" in the page title, but is actually a 41" as stated in the specifications. They never actually made these original versions in 40", but called them 40" for some reason. As I've stated in an earlier post, Craftsman called my 8 drawer top chest 40", but was actually a 41" and designed to go on top of the 41" bottom. It's the same issue on this intermediate. Though it was a good move on Craftsman part to discontinue the 8 drawer and move to the 5 drawer, they may have been able to sell more of the 8 drawer tops had they listed them correctly, instead of confusing the hell out of everyone, myself included!
And agreed, $300 is too much for just one more drawer. And that's the Outlet price. I'm curious what the original price was?

my wife thought it was a good idea too
the second top in the pic is the scratch & dent model that I got a few years ago...I'm thinking about keeping it as well...
