Need a picture or two to really help ya. Kinda sounds like a Quik Clean rat, but, a pic would help.

Yep, that's a Quik Clean. Made for Sears by Stanley. Decent ratchet - I've had some. The name comes from the fact that the gear assembly pops out as one unit easily for cleaning or replacement.

I've got a unopened NOS rebuild kit for the 1/2 version of that ratchet but alas no ratchet to put it in....
I hardly ever see those things around.

I had the full set. The 1/4 was the best of the batch. The larger ones had way too much torque required for the ratchet mechanism and was not too useful once the bolt was broken halfway free. I never did try to relube one though.

Stanley sold that ratchet under a bunch of names. Seen Challenger, Stanley, Task Force, and Craftsman versions, as well as some no-name ones. Some are marked USA, but most are Taiwan (likely all really Taiwan).
Sturdy but BULKY head. 3-in1 oil makes them a lot smoother and cuts the back-drag down. Still listed on Stanley's site as available.

I wonder if this is one of the tools that Stanley got sued for misrepresenting the Country of origin on.
