Good afternoon Garage journal members, upon assembly of my recent project. (Craftsman 5162 refurbishment), I noticed the jaw threads on the static jaw were not working as intended, I was very carful when I removed the jaws, however when cleaning the thread holes I noticed rust debris, when attempting to install the Jaws the threads do not catch to tighten, but when I take the jaws off and insert the screws it seems like the back threads catch, so my guess is the front threads rusted out, I drove to several places I thought might have the bolt, as I wanted to try one a little longer, and if need be I would cut it to fit, no luck finding this type of tapered bolt. at this point what are my options, if anyone can offer a solution, it would be greatly appreciated, BTW, i'm in L.A. county city of West Covina
Thanks to all that respond

Someone on FB is selling replacement screws. Maybe his would work?

Or countersink your jaws to 82* and use standard flat-head screws.

Or buy longer screws with big heads, and taper the head with a bench grinder and a drill holding and rotating the screw.

I believe it is 5/16-18, should I consider retapping the hole to the next size up?

I can make you a longer set of jaw screws, to try and engage with "good" threads deeper in the hole, let me know if you are interested. Let me know how long your current ones are (the total length). Thanks @paulsomlo for the ping above.

I have https://www.ebay.com/itm/275490295681 already made, which look to be around 3 threads longer than yours. I can also order longer screws (probably 1/8" longer than what I already have) and turn down an extra-long set if needed, giving you another 2-3 threads for a total of probably 5-6 threads of deeper engagement than your current ones -- if your holes go that deep (and they are tapped or can be tapped that deep)
