Picked up a Craftsman 5247 mini vise (2-1/2 inch Jaws) and would like to know who made it for Craftsman. I did not google anything interesting with the 5247 vise model, so I suspect it is not that popular or common. Cost me $10, not bad for a made in the USA vise, even if it is a tiny one.

Hoping someone knows a bit more about this vise

Here are the pictures.

thx,
amh

OK, I did find a craftsman add for the vise in a copy of the Sears 1964 hand tool catalog. So at least the vintage is now known, early sixties. And I did overpay, it sold for $3.29

Great looking little vise! With the box it is golden. Unfortunately, I have not paid attention to clamp vises. I will start looking more closely and maybe I will run across something. It is a distinctive looking tool.

I have one, they are really handy. I have a bench in my storage shed on which I was going to mount a regular vise. I used the clamp-on vise for something and now I'm going to stick with it. It's nice to be able to get it out of my way when I don't need it.
