picked up this 1958, 1\4 hp grinder yesterday and it could use some help. are parts available for these, and where might i obtain them?

It depends on the part you need, but for all but one or two parts the answer is no, no longer available. The only way to get most of the parts you might need is to find a donor machine and swap parts.
