When you say HF, do you mean Harbor Freight. I did not think of them for a belt. Thanks For the help. Ron J :willy_nil

Ag stores are the best for belts, often better than calling belt suppliers themselves. :p Probably due to the old farmers using antique equipment with all manner of odd sized components.

Just a quick search reveals this. " The pulleys are designed for 3L v-belts. Because of the location of the headstock pulley, removal of the headstock shaft is required to replace the v-belt, and this is not a task for the nervous: it requires driving the spindle out of pressed bearings. I strongly recommend buying Fenner twist-lok v-belts, because they can be broken and threaded through the headstock without removal"

:)Lets see if I can answer all ?? and give you all that tryed to help me were I am at.
I paid $100 for it, it came with a motor that was too big but worked ( save it for some other project) am using a old but working wash machine motor.
It came with all kinds of parts and tools some for this lathe some for some other lathe I think. Kinda pot luck.

Grainger would sell me 3L but in 250' min. only for the Fenner power twist.
No luck at Harbor freight, Fastenal, or Nothern Tool.
I have looked at McMaster Car but have not called yet, only $7.37 a ft. but do not know if their is a min. For 3L Power Twist lock.
I have measured my pullys and they are only 5/16 wide at the top so I am not sure if a 3/8 wide belt will work. But I do like the idea of not haveing to take the lathe apart to put a belt on.

Thanks Jim 454 for the link. I have 2 73 350 T tops. Ron J:)

have you looked at ebay? those lathes are popular and the belt is a needed item so there are people that sell them there

look for a used (free) treadmill and salvage the motor and controller from it and use that to power the lathe. DC motor and that will give you variable speed

Thanks Mike, I went to Motion Industries, which is part of Bearings Inc. it was $9 a foot with a 5 foot min. and $8-9 shipping for 3L. I only need 3' so I need to call McMastercar, been side tracked lately. Fixing one race car and building a Busch car, got a one month deadling, WOW car show MKE. Ron J:3gears:
