Craftsman 80’s Drill Press Replacement Parts

Good morning.
This is the first time I have done something like this but I have found myself in a bit of a pickle. I had a mid 80’s craftsman floor drill press 15”. Mode number 113.230850. Due to user error, I have very visible runout. After disassembly I have visible runout on the taper of my spindle. This get progressively worse at the chuck and bit. Right now I couldn’t say if fixing the spindle would solve the whole issue. But I know the spindle has wobble.

I have done some searching and this part is no longer manufactured and I am having a hard time finding a replacement. Or at least having that as an option. I have an email sent to a local machine shop to see if they could help with repair or manufacture...but have a feeling that will be pricey.

Does anyone here have experience replacing discontinued parts for these machines? Did a quick search on eBay and found the whole spindle assembly but didnt want to have to do that

Is yours made in Taiwan or China. Once Sears began offshore sourcing, they also stopped carrying parts in their warehouses.

The good news is it's an easy fix and there are tens of thousands of those DPs out there, so a replacement spindle will come available some day, some where. (Here's where the caveat comes. A friend bought a used spindle and when tax and shipping was added in, the cost was considerable. When it arrived, it was as bent as the one he'd hoped to replace. Much hassle with Facebook Marketplace and no satisfaction.)

Bottom line, once a major part of an offshore DP, such as the spindle gets bent/broken, it's often not cost-effective to repair it.
