What's the matter with this?

http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10...act+socket+set&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=L1

It says, Craftsman 93 piece impact socket set AND the other impact tool set, gloves, and air hose for $59.99 when you bundle the products together. Whatever...I don't need the impact tools, air hose, or gloves...I just want the sockets. $59.99 seems like it's too good to be true when you consider that this same socket set is $299.99 from the same web site. However, when you go to add the item to your cart....it won't. Only adds the air tool set? Can anyone make sense of this?

I think the $59.99 price is only for the 10-pc air tool set.

I added it to my cart, and that's all it was. The sockets were not included.

That's not what the title says. The title specifically says:

"93 pc. 6 - point Impact Socket Set with Mechanics Gloves & 10 pc. Air Tool Kit"

Note the ampersand symbol there. I don't know about you but when I see an ampersand symbol that usually indicates AND....meaning you get this AND that for the $59.99. Seems like false advertising if it's only for the air tool set.

No, it doesn't sound like false advertising.

It sounds more like a typo :lol_hitti

Their site *****, you see daily mentionings of these type issues and/or not holding up to claimed ad.

A typo would be forgetting an "S" after socket...or, $59.99 for socket. $59.99 for one socket....oh sorry sir, there was a typo, it should be $59.99 for sockets. That would be a typo.

This specifically shows the image of the 93 piece impact socket set AND to boot, it says you get that AND the air tool set, air hose, and gloves for $59.99. That's no typo....that sir is false advertising. They are specifically leading you into this ad by advertising and showing a picture of something that you will not be receiving and can't even add to your cart.

Right. Try going to Hand Tools > Sockets. Then try using their socket filter (contact points, drive size, socket depth). Keeps showing an error....seriously frustrating.

I swear...we put a freaking man on the moon for crying out loud and we can't even figure out how to build a web site correctly anymore.

Most likely due to postback issues on a DataGrid...damn viewstate. :bounce:

You've been reading too many of my books Larry.

On a side note, I'm actually curious to know what technologies they're using. Clearly they're using MVC but what server-side technology? Hard to tell.

FWIW I 100% agree, maybe not to that extreme, but it certainly is completely wrong. You might actually win if you sued in small claims court. Print the page and file. Only way they will change is if they have to pay for their mistakes. As a consumer you should not have to deal with this.

Checking the page source, there's a quote tag with .jsp in it at the bottom. Thank goodness they're not using ASP.Net MVC or I'd have to give up on it.

The Craftsman website is notorious for cart and other issues. But you're right, this is more than a simple typo.

The Sears website has the same issue, using the same item #-- big description but only the 10 pc set goes into your cart. Almost certainly there is a combo but the pricing isn't correct, maybe they transposed the combo description with the 10 pc item #.

I'm tempted to order it anyway, see what I get at the store pickup, and cancel it if it's not as described, or print the description and show it to them, and see what they do. I have to pick up a couple of toolbags there anyway, worth a shot I suppose.

I agree...it is worth a shot and I may do it too. Unfortunately the stores in my area don't carry that impact socket set....it's an online exclusive so I know for a fact I wouldn't get the sockets when I arrive at the store. I was in the market for that 95 pc. impact socket set and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this. I kept looking over the ad and wondering if the sockets were made in China or something...I kept thinking to myself....what's the catch. The catch is false advertising. I actually think I might call and demand everything for $59.99.

Right. I've spent over an hour trying to figure out if this is legit or not. Worse, figuring out why their stupid cart would only add the air tools and not the impact sockets. My time is worth $300/hr...I feel like I should be compensated for my wasted time. ;)

It is only the 10 piece Air Tool set.

I even tried calling and ordering it. Argued with the lady for 10 minutes. False Advertising bla blah blaaah... They simply don't have it in stock anymore so they can't ship it out and you can not order it.

They were sure eager to send me an E-mail survey for the call and whatnot though. They are also going to send me an E-Mail when the Item is in stock and available again. Yeah whatever.

I just called and tried to order it. Its supposed to be as it reads however they dont have any of the gloves or the socket sets in stock. So when added to the cart it only adds the air tool kit. Sandy with a heavy indian accent said I couldnt rain check it either

Ha, you should talk. You're the one that keeps responding to my posts. You seem to have plenty of time on your hands.

I just wanted an impact socket set...saw this oddity and decided to post it for others to try and figure out. Nowhere did I say I was planning on sueing.

As a matter of fact, I do have some free time right now.

I'm on a boat, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, enjoying the Southern California weather. I'm posting from my iPhone.

Good luck with your search. This was obviously a typo or some other sort of error.

I don't think Sears had any malicious intent of misleading their customers. It even tells you in your cart when you add the item that the $59.99 price is for the air tool kit only, and does not the sockets.

If you still feel that Sears has wronged you, then you should call them and see how far it will get you. I doubt you'll get anywhere.

Would have been one hell of a deal. Oh well. Too bad Sears doesn't stock the set in-store, it would have been worth a try going down there with a printout of the web page.

And nobody talked about suing? Nothing more than calling Sears and asking for the items as advertised. They would have said no almost certainly but if you got the right call center person and pointed out the discrepancy online who knows for sure?

Check page 1, post #12 of this thread. Somebody mentioned taking Sears to small claims court.

Here's a quote of that post:

FWIW I personally wouldn't sue, but that is how you get them to take notice of this sort of ****.

Also, even at full price, those impact sockets are top notch. I bought the 1/2" set and then the 3/8" set separately. I've had the 1/2" set for about 6 months and they are great. the 3/8" set I've had for about 2 weeks and have yet to use them, and are on the fence about keeping them, but they are also great sockets. I'm not sure I really need 3/8" impacts. But if I did, I would keep them as they really are good sockets, well worth the $$ for being US made.

You're right, I should have specifically said zruvalcaba didn't talk about suing, since that's who I was referring to. FWIW pipster's talk about suing was more along the lines of a shot in the dark, but it was mentioned as a possibility.

A complaint to the BBB might also be in order. Remember, the goal really is just fix their problem with their prices and products.
