I have a old Craftsman air compressor 33 gal 150 psi. Unfortunately the capacitor burned out. I was in the middle of giving a full body paint to a truck. I'm having a hard time getting a capacitor for it and I'm not sure where else to ask. Do any of you know where I could find one of if I could use a different one to safely replace it.

Any 45uF capacitor with the same or higher voltage rating should be sufficient. More important in a lot of applications to check that the physical dimensions of the new capacitor will fit in whatever enclosure you have.
My local Ace Hardware sells capacitors. You can also try an HVAC distributor or Grainger. I'd stay away from Amazon. Lots of no-name Chinese capacitors on there.

As noted, any 45 mfd cap will work. Voltage can be the same or higher but not lower. 370 volts is very common.
I like Grainger. If they don't have it, they can get it fairly quickly.
