I have a Craftsman Oilless Air Compressor that I bought around 1993. I realize it doesn’t owe me anything, but it is in great condition. Except for the fact it only maxs out at 40 PSI. I cracked it open and the sleeve, assorted “O” rings and the 3 finger reed is broken.
Due to GJ I realized that it can be repaired. Prior it may have become an portable air tank or simply tossed. But I have a stationary 60 gal, a 2 gal and a tank already and a wheeled air compressor is just too handy. Also the price of a replacement is ridiculous. It has a Devilries CRN F0515.5123467890YT

My Craftman horizontal 25 gallon 350 Series Model #919-721960 which is virtually nonexistent on the net. But from much groundwork it appears to be similar or exactly like the US Model# 919.155730.
So if this is correct where do you guys buy your parts?
A Canadian supplier might be easier.
I looked on EBay, Amazon and a few other places but most did not have all the parts I want to replace or were simply ridiculous in their pricing.
All Parts Equip and Accessories out of Michigan could be a fit, any others?

Thanks guys.

Cobbler appreciate the gesture. I needed some other items so went with the All Parts guys. With shipping what it is today thought I would put it all in one basket. Again Thanks
Renegade thanks for the effort. I did check out ebay and they had one of the items but since I needed other parts I order on line. Mind you the one part they did have was identical and less expensive but they didn't have all I required.
This way at least it all comes at once and I have less chance of forgetting where I put the first items received.:lol_hitti

I received the rebuild kit consisting of sleeve piston, gaskets, filter and 3 finger reed. I actually followed the instructions sent with the items. They quoted torque for the head bolts. 85-125 lbs took the average 105. Thought that was still to much and managed to snap one bolt. Drilled it out and extracted and found a replacement. Which went in farmer tight.
Getting the piston equipped with new ring set in new the new sleeve was a bit of an accomplishment. I used some poly water and a vice with a plywood and just forced it in.
Mounted the fan and turned it on. Everything was spinning and churning away and had about a 100 psi when KABOOM. The fan hit the ****.

Would I get by with no fan?
Dig up a half assed replacement?
Make on out of some light weight sheet metal?
Or buy one for $75-100 which would include shipping?:scared:

Another question why are these fans not installed on center but offset? If I was to make one it would be centered.

Looks like in the picture at least one mounting bolt/screw is missing. If two are then it probably shifted and hit

Very common failure on those. We had a fan grenade at work on a backup compressor. Replace it and 6 months later it grenaded again. I don't know the answer except maybe it needs to be torqued properly with some Loctite blue.

I'm thinking something hit the fan, or it was loose & hit something.
the fans actually spin on center, but they have an offset mounting screw

Yes offset and only one fastener. Possibly not tight enough. It seemed uniform in movement when it ran before it blew up. Wonder if I dare run it without a fan. :dunno:

No one fastener only. It is kind of offset likely to compensate for the stroke of the piston.

Torque is likely important along with the locktite should a lock washer also be included?

I'd run it without a fan until it blew up and put a lubed pump with a motor on that tank before I'd spend $100 on a new fan.

Either that or use a makeshift fan

The offset bolt suggests that the fan assembly isn’t neutral balance. The offset bolt insures the fan is indexed properly.
I remember the fan had a small counterweight attached with the bolt as well.

Thanks Cobbler, just might take you up on that. Checking another option.
Finn thanks figured it might be something like that.
Jswain Might do the makeshift fan if my other option doesn’t work out.
Engineer2 No counterweight on this one.

Not sure if it is your specific model... and not even sure if it is worth it... but when my 25Gallon horizontal oil-less craftsman was working and had a recall, it was this company San born that was the manufacture for them.... I tried replacing the o-rings and etc, it end up it was the reed valve... and decided not worth another $50 to order that... maybe see if some one in Canada sells those kits for SanBorn compressors, or call them up... I think the company sold to some one few years ago way back pre 2010.
