I am working on a planer for a friend. Model number is 103.1801, it is in nice shape overall. I just ordered a set of blades for it. I do not have the 'correct' blade height gauge, but I do have a gauge that I use on my old Delta/Rockwell 13". I think I can guess as to how much the blades should project above the cutterhead. I have the bed cleaned up fairly good, there is still staining from years of neglect. Is there a chemical way of removing such stains? When he dropped it off the cutter head was flopping back-n-forth 1/8" or so, I see the plug on the one end had worked out of the housing causing that slop. I tried gently to remove the entire plug to see what it looked like, but possibly the buggered up setscrew marks are preventing that. Maybe I will get a tool in there to tug on it a bit just to see what it looks like. All good fun.
