Won't matter to me. Craftsman made in China tools are straight garbage. Their made in Tawian stuff is alright. Kobalt being sold by Lowes is substantially better quality than newer craftsman stuff is.

Another Lowes/Craftsman thread? Wow, does every GJ member have to mid-wife the rebirth of Craftsman tools?

I'm not totally unsentimental. I love my Dad's and GrandFather's tools, because they were my Dad's and GrandFather's, not because of the brand stamped on them. Is saving this one brand name so vitally important to our nation's psyche? Will the collective GJ membership go to some dark place and never fully recover if Craftsman doesn't make it?

Just shows the power of branding, too bad Sears pissed it away. If they weren't so complacent and took their customers for granted back when they mattered there might not even be a Kobalt or Pittsburgh tools to compete with.

Went to my sears today and they had a lot of nice stuff.
I needed a telescoping magnet and saw a craftsman on for 6 bucks. Had a rubber handle and pocket clip, looked sturdy as opposed to most chinese junk. Looked at the label and was surprised but happily so that it was made in the usa. Go and look again. Sockets and wrenches are not the only thing they sell.
as of today I saw no craftsmen at lowes.

Might be a chance to get some deals on Kobalt tools when they switch over?
