does Sears price match? I just bought 6 a few weeks ago for $4.88 ??

Edit: Looked up my own answer, Sears only price matches for 7 days so I'm out of luck.

Made in Japan!

They seem to be mostly plastic.

There might be some metal on the inside, judging by the click that I feel when using standard 1/4" hex bits. By the way, these screwdrivers work with standard 1/4" bit holders, which is a nice bonus.

picked up one of each type today, can't resist

I bought the original real deal Vessel when I was in Japan a few months ago... it was a lot more expensive, and rightfully so as it's their Japan only high end model with more bits... I'll post some pics tomorrow

Is the build quality the same between the Vessel-branded ones vs. the Craftsman-branded ones? The Craftsman ones seem like they are mostly made of plastic.

The bits/shafts appear different, based on online pictures.

These are surprisingly good, I have 2 that I got for $5 and was happy with them. No brainer @ $2.50, ordered 3 more.

Ordered one of each for my tool box and a few other sets for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the heads up, Tel0004.

Who knows?
Ordered. Only 1 available for pickup, no shipping

Dude, before you pick up the one you ordered, be sure to check the shelves for more.

I tried to order 3 flathead and 3 Phillips head from my local store. The website only let me order 1 and 2 respectively as that's all that were supposedly in stock.

I checked the floor first and found they had 30+ still in stock. I just picked up 10 today. 4 for the shop, 2 for the wife, and 4 for gifts.

Warranty seams void. Tips are considered a wear item and the package reads: "No hammering, prying or hitting handle end."

Thanks for the heads up (seriously)

I ordered what was left at my local Sears Saturday (3) and went a few hours later to pick up another item that I previously ordered. They were too busy to fill the order for the ball drivers (I could have handed it to them) but there were plenty on the racks...quite a lot more than the inventory showed. Wish I'd known when using my points and surprise points online but? what are you going to do?

Well...I make weekly trips and they were clearance so...I can wait. No big deal. I finally got my email Sunday. They claimed to be out. I have my choice of driving an extra 60 miles round trip or canceling the order.

People are sick and tired of hearing about Sears problems and I'm sick of experiencing them. At least some of you get your $5 coupons when waiting more than 5 minutes...I get screwed out of those even when they lose the item.

I'm glad for everyone that got them...but bargains on things I actually want is my Vietnam. :lol_hitti

Just picked up my 2. I'm taking a poop now so I don't have them in front of me, but I'm just wondering if the interior handle is gonna get worn out eventually and not be able to hold a bit in without it falling out, since it's made of plastic.

Are the original Japanese ones plastic also?

Their website saying it's out of stock doesn't really mean it is.

I couldn't place an order for the Philips drive ones because the website claimed my local store only had the slotted ones in stock. Well, I ordered 1 of the slotted ones, and when I went to pick it up, there were at least 100 of all types in stock in the bins. Ended up buying a Philips one while I was in the store.

If you really want one, it wouldn't be a bad idea to stop by your local store to see if they really are out of stock.

Maybe the way I wrote is hard to understand and I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clearer but...

The parts of the quote that you cut out explained that I know they had many more than they claimed because I was there after placing my order to pick up something else that was ready for me. They just claimed they couldn't do anything to fill the order at the time. I make a weekly trip to the mall or very nearby. I placed an online order to try to get the best deal(s).

I'm hoping they have more in stock when I go back.

the build quality is pretty much the same... the bit holder is better on the Vessel as it's designed for the notched bits, making the bits hold on to the handle better

the Vessel bits are about 1/2" shorter, but careful comparison shows that the Craftsman bits have the same cut, making them JIS compatible tips! This is one of the quick, easy, and cheap ways to get yourself a JIS screwdriver now. It won't be as heavy duty as the Megadora series, but good enough for seldom usage

No where on the Craftsman pieces do they say "Made in Japan" (only the blister package says so)... not really a big deal though

You may also have noticed already that the Vessel set has very different bits to the Craftsman (other than the fact that it has the notches for a more secure fitment). Well, the Vessel equivalent to the Craftsman "Phillips" is this:
http://www.vessel.co.jp/handtools/html/handtools/info/2013/07/no220w-123.html

There isn't really a flat blade equivalent, so it looks like the Craftsman wins in that department as it has the smaller tip, which is not found in the Vessel Prokon line up

FYi: The Craftsman Ball Grip screwdrivers can be easily repurposed because the hex end (female) can accept any hex-shaft (male) tool bit. For example I test-fitted a 3" hex-shaft phillips#2 bit, a 3" hex-shaft torx bit and 3" hex-shaft square drive bit. Check it out and grab up more of them before they are all gone!!

Can confirm these are JIS compatible. Phillips drivers fall right out of the screws on my Honda, but these fit so tightly I can let the driver hang horizontal without it slipping out. For $2.47 these are an absolute steal.

I couldn't find any at my local Sears. I hope to find them at a few other Sears near me.

Interesting information. Do you if the Hondas made in America still use JIS screws?
