I wanted to share with everyone a change I made to my bandsaw. The original stand was tapered outward 6 inches on each side for stability. it had two wheels on the back two legs so you could lift the front and move some what easily. i kept hitting it with my feet and absolutely hated it. Before anyone fires back saying how it has to taper out for stability I want to add it is rock solid and would take a lot of preasure to move the saw. I added four swivel casters from HF for $12, the front two have locks on them. i used bed rail angle iron and made each leg. I am going to box it in with plywood and paint it for storage.

I though that maybe this would help someone that felt the same way I did about the original design. It works great. I

Two wheels. The head tilts to 45 degrees for something as big as a railroad tie. I also want to figureouthowtoslowitdownto cut steel too.

That's a great idea. There are lots of threads here about converting wood to metal. But it sounds like you're plan is just to cut steel occasionally. You'll need the speed reducer to get the right speed .
