Help identify the year of my craftsman 5241 mechanics vise

Nice one! They were sold by Sears during the 1940’s.
Would you like to trade for a newer one or a bigger one or a smaller one or a nicely painted up one or ???

Thank for the info, I have been looking for info on this one and stumbled on garagejournel.com which gave me some info, but I never found another like it, this belonged to my father, it has been in storage for about 17 years. I have a larger Wilton vise that is too large for the bench and I wanted to use this one, this thing is a beast though, I think it weighs more than the larger vise. Not sure If I want to spend the time redoing this one or getting another, you have any suggestions?

Nice find. The American made version of the Chinese wonder vise so if you’ve got a bench to use it on great but just don’t beat on it.

Got some info from another member, the vise was sold between 1936 and 1941, attaching an ad from 1936 and a restored vise
