Hey guys, I have been looking for a bench grinder that I could use for a mixture of wire wheeling and some grinding (mostly sharpening). After doing my research, I found out how crappy today's budget grinders are, and learned about the block grinders.
Today I got lucky and scored this guy for 50 bucks with the redneck stand. It seems to run smooth and quiet, but I've watched those "wind down" videos of these things that show them taking like a full minute to come to a stop. This one comes to a stop in more like 15-20 seconds (didn't time it) and you can hear the wire wheel scraping a little (this may alone explain it).
I figure I'll clean it up and shoot some fresh paint onto her, then install a better wire wheel and ring test the grinding wheel. I thought I'd see if there was anything else I should do to it while I have it apart to make sure it will give me a nice service life.
Thanks.
